OK so Monday morning it was 6 degrees out. I was all set to ride to work. Go outside all geared up. Guess what no start. This is a 2015 Piaggio BV 350 with 3000 miles on it. So the battery number is YTX12 Yussa 240cca stock battery . 5" tall x 6" long x 3 3/8" deep. I have been looking on and off all week for a stronger battery. I'm not having much luck. I was looking to see if anyone knows of a stronger battery so I can get started on a cold day.

Of all of the bike batteries I have had yuasa has been the best. Could be a oem is different than a high dollar replacement.

I watched the battery meter on the dash drop down to low 10's. Then later on in the afternoon/evening it started right up not charging/jumping. Should I go back to the dealer for a new battery or just chalk it up to the cold?

I like and run yuasa myself ,,,and interstate also when I can,,I think you had a partially frozen battery

It was showing 12.2 with the ignition on. I installed the battery lead for the Gering heated stuff. I will outfit the booster pack with an adaptor to plug in. Let's see if that will be enough.

I noticed if it drops down to 10.2vdc it will not start. At 10.7vdc it will. I think just a little extra should get it going. I'll ask the dealer if they think my battery is no weak side or if it is just too cold.

I'm not sure if you have bought a new battery yet or not. Before I did I would find something like the following with dimensions smaller than your existing battery.

Ideally you would put it on a timer for a few hours before you left for work on those cold mornings.

Please also be careful that the added hieght doesn't make the terminals short out on whatever is above the battery.

You could always throw an old heating blanket over the bike set on low

I spoke to the schmuck at the dealer (the smartass kid thinks he knows it all). I told him what I wrote above. Dumb arse was like I don't know. I had a great idea and suggested he ask the other guy that works on the scooters. They seem to think the battery is bad, so I'm off to the dealer for a replacement. If I have to reach in my pocket for it I get more cca's.

That was more trouble then it was worth. It was raining this morning so I pulled the battery and drove over to the dealer. Then was told leave it till Tuesday. What a waste of time, I don't think the battery is defective. I think it is not up to the task. They offered me a new battery no returns. Bottom line here is the battery is not serving my purpose, it needs to start my scooter every morning no matter temp outside.

So the schmuck screwed me again with bad info.

Having fun yet, well its the bull crap that gets me. I know I'm pushing the envelope as far as design of the battery. I only called the dealer to see if they would just tell me I need a higher cca battery. After I got off the phone with them. I felt that they thought my battery was defective and they were ready to exchange it for me. I don't expect it to make the problem go away. So I bring the battery and wasted my time.
