do you think it will be easier to just buy a new wiring harness? are all GY6 wiring harnesses the same?

The harness they sell are generic and if you cannot get it straightened out then yes get a new harness.

I have harnesses, i'm not crazy about selling them. I use them for parts the plugs and connectors. The harness is never a great match but workable.
I suspect that some things are jumped out to bypass an alarm. Do you see anything extra like extra lighting or radio. Maybe the remnants of mounting holes?
The white wire in the battery box looks out of place to me. It could be for an extra.

I've pretty much figured out where everything goes except the white wire. There is a plug cut in the battery box with a white and green wire on it.
The plug jumped with the yellow cable is a mystery too. Does a secret 65 have different wiring?
Here's an electric update: I got a new key for the ignition so I want to try to wire it up as well as I can soon. (Too cold this weekend to work in the garage.
I could have just bought a new ignition but the scooter shop is a 30 minute drive and there is a family owned locksmith shop 2 blocks away. I'd rather he get some of my money too

A ha !
I found out that the connector that was jumped is supposed to be jumped. I saw a you tube video about a guy installing an alarm and in the video he said there was jumped connector you can use to install the alarm.
Can this be used for other accessories?
It's all becoming clear

Not sure of the video you saw online, Be very careful not all posted videos are good. I have done many rewire jobs from online video DIY's and for several local shops.

I dont know if this guy is an expert or anything. I just was searching jumped scooter connector and this showed up
I find it interesting that the atm50 that he's selling also has a jumped connector in the front.

did you see the jumper he removed? When bypassing an alarm that or some form of the jumper needs to go back.

I'm not planning on taking out the jumper yet.
I can tell the guy isn't an expert because he called it a "moped"
The moped army would have him court marshaled

FANTASTIC appears you got the wiring correct and all is working nicely. The clicking is coming from the SOLENOID and it is not working, only works when you jump it. What happens inside the SOLENOID is exactly the same as when you jump the therminals from the outside same thing happens inside it makes contact with both terminals to pass the 12v from the battery to the BLACK WIRE going to the Starter.
SO you need a new SOLENOID. Everything else is working so far. Once you get the New Solenoid we can test if the CDI is working and passing voltage to the PLUG. Install the new SOLENOID take the plug out or IF you have a spare plug take the BOOT CAP off the plug in the motor and we can test with the spare plug. Hold the PLUG ON the VALVE COVER for ground and try to start it and see if the PLUG IS FIRING. If it is firing then we know the CDI and COIL and STATOR are good.
Now it may just be fuel delivery and we can easly test that as well. Alleyoop

Are they gy6 specific? Can I get one at the motorcycle shop or do I need to drive out to the scooter shop?
Motorcycle shop (also a Genuine dealer) is 5 min away The scooter shop is 30 minutes away (for a city kid, that's a distance)
I also have the gas tank off for cleaning. I haven't even taken fuel into consideration yet

if the wires on the solenoid are backwards it will not crank. Do you have tight connection to the battery?
