In all fairness it could be a secret 63 but I didn't see any markings. It is a 1p39qmb and when I unsealed the stock carb it had an 81 jet in it. But until the time comes when I measure the bore, I'm calling it a 50.

I think we all know the answer to that

Speed cost money and work so it is up to you. But I have to tell you to get 50s in the mid 40s requires quite a bit of work and parts. So if it goes little over 40 leave it alone the cost to extra speed is not worth it.
You could go with a performance Variator and play with the variator weights for 1 or 2 more mph and the cost is under 50 bucks. Alleyoop

And if you do not have a motorcycle endorsement on your drivers license in most states you can get nailed for speeding at 40mph and no license. Speeding for going faster than the 30 or what ever they think is top speed for a 50cc and since you have to have a motorcycle license to go that fast you get one more ticket. I would leave what is working great alone. It will last much longer riding it as is.

For what its worth, a few years back a guy who lost his license for drunk driving was riding a hopped up 50 with a group of others got stopped and got a whole slew of tickets including a felony "driving on a suspended". He was in an area zoned for the speed he was going but since it was a 50cc he wasn't allowed to go that fast, then since going that fast needed a motorcycle license and he was suspended he got the book tossed at him. The rest of the riders got no tickets as they were riding 150cc scooters and they were legal.

It really depends on the community. In the suburbs the towns revenue depends on tickets. Here in the city, law enforcement has bigger fish to fry. I have many friends and family who cary a badge and I know for a fact most of the time a middle aged guy on a scooter is the least of their worries.
