Zooming around today started getting an obnoxious squeal, determined it's the speedo cable. I assume I can get at it through the service panel under the handle bars and squirt something down it. Is it that easy, or do I have to strip the thing down to nothing to get at it?

graphite works great for that. You will probably have to pull plastic unless you can get some thing to run up hill from the bottom!

Well, that was easy. I took off the service panel and it was right there. I just disconneted it and put a little A-1 down it. The output for the speedo it digital. Does that cable just run the odometer, or is it converted to a digital readout? Or is the speed determined from something else? I won't get to riding it til Sunday to see if it made a difference.

Well, it howled for about 5 minutes and shut up for most the day, then on my way home started again. It seems when I get about 40mph, it gets irritated and howls. Under 15mph it shuts up, but comes back when I get some speed. Maybe it's the mechanism in the dash. I can here it rotating and varies with speed. So it's something to do with that cable. There must be a gadget in there that takes the mechanical drive and converts it to digital output, is that right?

Just shot some WD40 up into the odometer, I'll see if that helps.

WD40 up the odometer worked, nice and quiet now. The thing is a lot of fun to ride, just need to figure out a backrest.

A few months before I quit riding the majesty I took an old sisy bar from a mid sized motorcycle an used a torch to rebend the lower mounting on it. I then drilled some extra holes and bolted it directly to the seat pan. It was actually mounted backwards. The back pad was easy to mount reversed. It didn't look very good but at that point I didn't give a damp, I was totally discussed with that piece of crap. Riding it is probably why my Back hurts so bad right now. With the sisy bar on it I did feel some relief for the awful ride due to the rear suspension.

Yea, it's pretty tough on the back. I'll cobble something when I find something to cobble. Was thinking about a kayak seat. One good thing about Florida, roads are pretty good so not a lot of bouncing.
