I had problems trying to upload a video using Tinypic of the starter turning but not turning the flywheel. Would it be okay if you pm'd me an emil address and I can send it to you that way?
I removed the cover on the left side and couldn't find any motor markings. Where should they be? The motor looks like the picture you posted in in post #25.
Can we go ahead and order the clutch now or do we need to remove it first?
As background I changed my oil 30 miles ago and there was no metal in the oil then.
I hope the metal is all from the starter clutch failing.

Yea the metal parts are form the starter clutch there is nothing else going on around there except if you notice below that cover is covering the oil pump. That is great that you verified that the starter is not turning the flywheel which means the clutch is slipping and not grabbing. On the 50s and 150s the motor is itched into the caseing in front of the cvt by the sidestand but I do not know if the 250s are marked the same way as well:

But no need You verified that the clutch is slipping just like the Video I put up with the guys Clutch slipping then sometimes grabbing yours unfortunately slips all the time. Alleyoop

No problem. I completely understand.
I looked again for the motor marking on the left side by the CVT casing and it is not there. Where else could I look to find the model?
Can we go ahead and order the clutch now or do we need to remove it first? The sooner I can order the parts the sooner I can get everything back together.
Having an oil filter sure would have been handy right now!

Look for the METAL PLATE that has the vin number and lots of info. We do not want to order the wrong clutch that is why knowing the motor is always very inportant to get the right parts. Alleyoop

Excellent thread! I'm glad you found it.
I don't have a caliper to measure with. Eyeballing it with a tape measure my is very close to 2.9 inches from Allen screw to Allen screw and the shaft diameter is close to 0.98 inches.
Should I be going through the parts at Absolutelyscooters where he found his?
I'll be rereading that thread again.

I just modified your pic and put a line from bolt to bolt and it should be around 2.9 So the one I put up should be it, I could not find it on absolutelscooters but you can try. As long as it measures 2.9 and .98 inchs. Alleyoop

In the other thread the guy initially bought one off ebay. The seller then realized that they didn't have one in the US. Since it was going to be 25 more days he canceled his order and bought one from Absolutelyscooters for $20 more.
The one you found on EBAy looks correct. I don't see the number of teeth listed so I asked the seller that.
Have you found it anywhere else?

Good morning Alley.
How do I hold the flywheel from turning while trying to remove either the nut or the Allen screws?
I heard back from the Ebay seller you linked to and it has 49 teeth. 49 teeth is what the person needed in the scooter professor link you sent yesterday. Should I go ahead and order it? I meant to mention that they are US based in California.
Where is a good place to get a gasket? Mine is shot.
Thanks once again.
