The Wife and I went for a ride into town the other day. On the way I'm thinking "the trike is running good, better then before". I figure it's the new carb I put on. Pretty soon the Wife leans forward and says "the trike is running nice today". I wonder if it was a different/better/bigger carb. I get home and check. Same carb as the last one. What the heck?? Then I remembered,, we switched to the middle gas pump. What a diff. I like this lil trike.

It's going to be 80 degrees today, I think I will take the lil Wife in to Tastee freeze for some ice cream. She deserves it. Just got it washed and waxed, it's ready to roll.

Got back from town and running the better gas, I have to watch the tech all the time. It gets into the 8000 rmp's on the flats with the Wife on the back in a heart beat. I try to keep it in the 7's thinking the motor will last longer. One time, going down into a big holler with the cheap gas, I found I had it in the 9"s. I slowed down real quick. Going up one holler I usually drop down to 23 MPH, today I came up it at 34 MPH. I may try the best gas next time just for the heck of it. PS: Where can I get JET FUEL?

Is there a chance that the mid grade you bought is ethanol free? That is the way it is at my favorite station, three different grades, all come from separate hoses......regular, and high test are ethanol blended, And the mid grade, (91 octane) is real gas, or in other words, ethanol free.
I won't put anything but ethanol free gas in any of my bikes.....it may cost 50 cents more per gallon, but like cyborg said.....I notice the difference. It is an added bonus if you can find a place like mine, that has dedicated hoses for each grade, that way you won't end up with a half gallon of regular that was left in the hose from the last customer.

You must be using sunoco,,, the only place I remember with separate hoses for their gas

Actually, it's a Valero station......but the pump is clearly labeled at the ethanol free hose "Not a Valero Product". So I don't know who refines it. I do know that after 4 riding seasons, 4 winter hibernations, and 9500 miles clocked, I still haven't needed to clean the carb.....course, that's probably due to the fraction of an ounce of Marvel Mystery Oil, I add at each fueling.
Still feel that non ethanol, produces more power, delivers more mpg, doesn't separate, doesn't eat rubber components, etc, etc
