Today am remembering all those who gave their lives for this country. I am also remembering all those vets who took their own lives after servicing our country. Those vets who upon returning didn't get the physical and/or mental health care they needed to help them overcome the demons they retuned home with. Some died drinking themselves to death some overdosed and some ended their own lives because living was too painful. I don't judge them since I don't know what was going on in their heads. It just saddens me when I think our country asked or accepted their service but on them returning home couldn't help them. May they all RIP.

Today is Memorial day. A day to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country and for those who came home but for one reason or another are no longer with us. For many of us vets, today is a very hard day. We honor those that we served with who are no longer with us.
Having served in both the Navy and the Army, I would like to first remember my brothers on eternal patrol. You don't know their names, but we remember the boats. USS Thresher, USS Scorpion, all the boats lost during WW2... Even those who were my adversaries have my respect and honor today. Kursk, Komsomolets... Too many to list.
Also today I honor the 8 brothers of the 724th En Bn that I have lost in the last 12 yrs since returning from Iraq. For some of you accident or illness visited you at home. For others the war never ended and your pains were too much to bear. I honor you most of all, and I look forward to seeing you again in the next life...

You all were taken away from us way too soon but you will never be forgotten.
