so I'm pretty sure there's a thread on this subject already but i have yet to find one depicting a situation like mine. I own a 2008 xingyue xy150t that i bought from a friend of mine, it was a pretty nice scooter until it wasn't keeping an idle. Long story short I ended up changing all the electrical components like spark plug,CDI, stator, ignition coil and cylinoid but Im still not getting a spark, but what i was thinking is theres probably a short somewhere but I dont know for sure. A fresh point of view or some suggestions on what the problem is or what i might be missing would help a lot. two things i know for sure is fuel is getting to the engine dont think its a ignition switch problem

cyborg is right, a very common problem is the engine isn't grounded. i hope you're testing for spark on the cylinder head and not the frame.

did you order all the parts from the same vendor? Did you get any tech help from the vendor?

When a gy6 motor doesn't idle the first check would be the valve clearance. I would go back to where it was first when it didn't idle good. One or more of the parts you put in is more than likely where your problem is now.
In our library are generic manuals and methods to check out your scooter.

what would running a ground wire to the frame from the engine do? without grounding the engine to the frame the spark plug can't ground so it can fire.

run a wire from any of the valve cover bolts to any nearby bolt on the frame. if the spark plug will not fire on the cylinder but will on the frame this is usually the cause. remember, the battery is grounded to the frame but not the motor so when the electrical pulse is sent to the spark plug and the engine is not grounded there is no complete circuit to allow the plug to fire.

Thanks, Cyborg. I, too, replaced the stator, pickup and cdi. Checked the ground and it appeared ok, even by meter. Ran a new ground anyway and I have spark.
