Ugh. This thing always leaked but now it's blowing oil out of the bottom of the engine. Did I blow a gasket? I hit a pothole today and my engine died at a stop sign. I pushed it home (thankfully I wasn't far ) I looked around, checked the valves buttoned her back up and she started. I put my hand under the engine and it was getting covered in oil. What do you think it is?

I'd be giving the engine bottom a real good look,,,hopefully you didn't get a crack in the crankcase from that pothole

I may just say the hell with it and save up for a honda on or maybe a puch moped. Those mopeds are so easy to work on. I enjoy riding my scooter but I know it's junk even for a chineese scooter. The plastic is cracked all over and it's just plain ugly. Maybe I'll feel better tomorrow but tonight I feel like chucking it into the river.

Some people on this and other forums are getting big miles out of Chinese scoots,, some don't ,, I recommend Taiwanese myself,, genuine/ kymco/ Sym/ tgb,,, you pay for it but well worth the high buy in,,, another member of the forum just got a nice used genuine blur,,, a world of difference

Take your time don't get antsy,,,, out of the 60 bikes I've owned 4 were new new like dealer new,,,and even one of those was a demo bike with 200 some miles on it,, got my Stella as a left over so I got a screaming deal on that,, and just bought a 1984 r80st bmw with 372 miles on it,, one owner bike,,,the other member that just got a genuine blur ( msrp $3999) for $800 says it's a rocket compared to his chinese scoot and for good reason,, it costs four grand new,, not 7-900 delivered,, there is a difference and anyone that tells you there isn't doesn't know,,, prove it to yourself go online to the cannonball scooter rally and look up all the entries for all the years it's been run,,, not one Chinese scooter,,, how come?,,,,because they are not up to the task,,,someone left an ssr 150 behind at my new shop,,, I don't even want it,,, but I didn't have the heart to put it in a dumpster so it sits behind my shop with a paint dropcloth over it,,, now if your just putting around town keep the speeds reasonable Chinese scoots can last a long time,,, Rks just went past 10,000 on his chino scoot,,, but he's a very meticulous person ,,, keeps it in as new condition and religiously services it to the extreme,,, and you must,, if you don't they break,, no real oil pump( half the battle with them) no oil filter to speak of ( yea I know vws only had a screen too but they were designed in the 1920's),, the modern Taiwanese scoots are where it's at for now at least ,, it's a whole different animal

I've found I can get about anything I want for $1200 - 80's Hondas, used kymco and the occasional buddy. I'd love a sym symba but it seems it's discontinued. We must not have an sym distributor around here because I don't see them much. For now I'll look into fixing my chineese junk without putting any money into it.

find the leak first! It might not be any big deal to seal up. Engines can be had cheap too. Could be a seal, a $3 part. And stay out of pot holes!

We have bible thumpers trying to run our state. I have no use for any of that nonsense so we are in the same boat really. But that's for another topic as well.
A dude who lives a block over rides a symba. It's pretty sweet. I Don't know where he got it.

Missouri St. Louis to be exact. We don't exactly fit in with Missouri but would rather not be associated with Illinois so we just kind of stay to ourselves

So the leak seems to be up by the exhaust.
I do need a new head. I've had a stripped stud hole there for a while I may as well just replace it. Anyone have a spare 139qmb head with the 69mm valves they can sell me?
