I am trying to buy a replacement carb for my 260cc and they are all water cooled for 30mm that I find on ebay. Mine is not and I haven't even seen one before. What's the deal with that? I just want a regular 30mm carb with an enricher

A lot of them show the water hookups, but I don't think any are actually used that way. My original just has those capped. A hold over from the old days, I think..

Are you sure they aren't asking if carburetor fits water cooled engines like my trikes

I have seen those on other than scooters and they weren't meant to COOL the carb but rather HEAT it for use in very cold weather. I have had carbs turn into blocks of ice. So if your not riding in sub-zero weather it isn't necessary.

Ah, that's right richardv, I've lived in Vegas for so long that i'd forgotten that sometimes things need to be heated.. And yes, kind of dumb. If the carb is frozen, then the engine can't run to heat the water to heat the carb. I suppose there might be a use in extreme weather where the engines are running at all times while outside and if the carb is exposed. Was stationed in Alaska years ago where we never shut off the engines on the trucks except when inside heated hangers, but don't recall any special mods to the carbs..

I owned a morris minor car from England years ago. It had an electric carb heater and it was necessary when the temp was down toward zero until the engine was warmed up, as well as a manual choke.
a lot to be said about English carbs and electrics! and not all good.

The carbs on my Honda CL360 and CB750K5 would turn to ice blocks if I ran them at 35F. Then I would shut down and let the engine heat thaw them, restart and go for a while again. On the 750 the second winter saw Weber carbs.
