They have a rough road ahead of them. For some one new to big cruisers they will go over great. For those riding a HD the indian might look good but they are not a harley and most who ride harleys are a cult of sorts and nothing but a harley will do. You would think a water cooled harley would sell but it was a flop because of what the cult thinks a harley should be. Harley had a engine that didn't sound right and guess what, that did not go over well.

In my trips to Connecticut I've seen a few Indians. The other day a guy and girl on a Scout passed me....twice. I've seen way more Indians than I've seen Victories. There's a brand that went over like a lead balloon.

My VFW member just got one looks and runs great. But when I seen him he had shorts on and exhaust system was close to his bare skin. I see a accident about to happen what do you think?

Harley is going to go thru some changes,,,,they have to,,,the aircooled engine is too noisey,,,this is why the new designs are liquid cooled,,,they will phase out the aircooled engines,, I like the scout but too much dough

I don't think being aircooled makes them noisy, as they are still carbed. Besides, they can be both, I checked out a Vulcan R, and it was a water-cooled, air-cooled bike.

The new regs coming down in europe and eventually here in the states will dictate the future of engines ,,aircooled is dead,,,at least in the eyes of the no nothing's in power,,,too much mechanical noise,,,bmw's are all liquid cooled now,,,and Harley will follow in the not too distant future,,,oh they will still be made in some countries but they won't come here or to europe regs will be very tight,,,

I would expect with the new regulations the older air cooled, over priced, used Harley's will become even more over priced!
In fact they may be a wonderful investment, buying a few brand new current ones and putting them in storage for a few years until all that's left new are the water cooled ones.

Personally I think the bikes Victory builds and sells are superior machines but the numbers aren't there in sales. As of the last quarterly report from Polaris Indian and Victory are selling equal numbers of bikes. The current Polaris Indian has been in business since 2013 while Victory has been in business since 1998. It only shows that it's not the product that sells, per se, it's the lifestyle. Harley and Vespa have the whole culture thing down solid while Indian is in the starters blocks. Victory, as a brand is losing the battle and will require a different path. Maybe some entry level or dual purpose bikes.

Maybe because the Victorys have been out a lot longer then the revamped Indians new company. As far has quality they so far got there act together really a nice looking bike that I saw.

I had a crazy thought and yes you'll say it's crazy! But what if Polaris made a few bikes that attracted the younger crowd to just keep sales up, mechanics busy and dealers selling inventory? Maybe stoop as low as building a crotch rocket or two? Harley tried several times with a mid range bike but if I remember right they never sold well? JR

Indian just did that with the scout,,,but I think 10 large is hardly entry level buy in,,,,,I'd have one if they weren't so pricey,,,I like the scout but not for north of $10,000 out the door. I really like my bikes, and prefer riding over driving anytime,,,but there comes a break point for me,,,when I can get a gently used bike with very low miles ,,,a little work and money and have a machine that runs very well I'll spend the $5000 and keep the extra ,,,$5000 does buy quite a bit of gas
