Well......if you've been following those birds around, on your scooter, it's no wonder it quit running.

4 years ago a friend with a late model merc marquies had his motor power washed by a small shop, came up with a miss that dealer could not find. 2nd dealer hooked it up to computer and replaced the one plug that had a crack in the insulator. Told Joe that had the engine been cold that wouldn't have
happened.

It runs good going down the road, good pickup. It might be a jet needs changing.
Ahh heck, it runs good, I think I will just leave it alone and ride it.

rks, those posts are 4 days apart.

Afternoon Boys,
I still have a problem with it running.
I set the valves, got a new carb, new manifold gaskets and adjusted the carb. But if I give it any throttle it dies as you can see. What am I missing?

It would be nice if it was that simple. I can give it throttle slowly and it won't die. It's only when I do it fast. I can ride it down the road ok, I just can't rev it up or take off fast. I used a water hose and checked for air leaks, I flooded it! It only stops when the water hits the spark plug. No vac leaks,,,, that I found. "

I used a spray bottle and didn't find any change. I really thought it was/is a vac leak so I went with the hose and flooded it. Still no change.

I checked the diaphragm of the old new carb and didn't find anything wrong with it. Then I changed the diaphragm out with another one I have, same thing. Then I bought a another new carb, replaced the manifold gaskets and ran a lot of water over the carb looking for air leaks, none. Adjusted the carb about 8 times trying different settings, I am back with the setting I ended up the first time I adjusted it, 2 and 1/8 turns out.
New fuel filter and it's pumping good fuel to the carb.

A while back I bought a new carb and noticed a different's in the sound and how it ran with the new carb compared with the stock one that came with it. New carb and switching to the middle gas made a big diff for the trike.

My new manifold will be delivered today but I really don't need it. After I replaced the 2 gaskets I have no leaks anywhere near the carb. That I'm sure of. When I flood the motor with water, it only changes idle and stops when the water hits the spark plug. I have also sprayed/flooded under all the side panels looking for vac leaks. I know this problem is something simple that I am over looking.
