My butt hurts 😉 Does anybody make a more comfortable seat for a scooter? The seat on my scooter visually is in good shape, but it is 10 years old and has lost a lot of its cushioning abilities. Does someone make a gel type pad that can be added to a scooter seat? Randy

And this scooter is which one?
Chinese you are pretty much on your own. A few of the jap scoots have customs available. Being 10 y o cost is going to be a concern where the seat could be more than scoot is worth. Seats are not that hard to recover. Foam cuts with an electric knife or bread knife. Usually takes a power staple gun and the materials. Searching the Internet you will find some do it your self sites for seats as well as materials.

randyjaco It's a Verucci 150. I am looking for a cheap way out. I only paid $200 for the scooter, so I'm not going to break the bank on a seat. I couldn't find anything on on the Web.

Kind of figured you wanted cheap. Outside of a rare deal on craigs list, do it your self. I re-foamed my majesty. It was better, higher and made a big difference. I got lazy and bought a sargent seat for the klx. It was thinner firmer and wider and was well worth the over 300 it cost. No one makes a seat for the chinese stuff that I am aware of. gel pads are expensive too and none seem to be the right size. I would first go find some do it your self tutorials read and then go shopping. A hand stapler might be able to re-staple but I wouldn't bet on one. A power one slams the staples in so much harder in the plastic seat base. Mine is about a $15 electric one and will bury staples in the plastic and I have 2 t50 hand ones that won't. Walmart foam is too soft. check auto and marine upholstery shops for foam and cover a lot of covers can be stretched with a heat gun if you are careful.

Just checked utube and found a bunch of videos. One guy uses a dryer to soften cover and stretch, not real good as it cools off quick. Those with a hand stapler use hammer to set staples, not good as they bend over and cut fabric. A heat gun or even a hair dryer can heat small areas and make it fit with least effort. Power stapler sets staples with out damage to fabric, the more do overs the worse the job ends up/

Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for. The problem is that yesterday I ordered the medical gel sheet material to do it myself. In the end that probably would have been cheaper 😡 Randy

Well, I did it and am happy with the results. In fact this is the best modification I have made to my scooter. Hell, my butt thinks it's riding a Harley 😊 It was really easy to do. I think it turned out pretty good. It only took about 15 minutes. A power stapler is definitely needed. I purchased a 14" x 14" x 1/2" sheet of medical grade gel for about $40. Sorry I don't have better pictures, but I wasn't planning to post this. I removed the seat and placed it on my work bench. I removed all the staples from front portion of the seat. Then I lifted up the vinyl and folded it to the back of the seat exposing the foam rubber. I didn't want to just lay the gel on the foam rubber because I was afraid that it would not stay in place. So I skived away about 1/2 " of the foam @7" wide. See picture of the removed foam. I folded the gel in half making it now 1" thick and placed it in the depression of the removed foam. Then with a pair of large scissors I trimed the gel to conform with the existing contours of the seat. I then unfolded the vinyl back to its original position. I then stretched the vinyl forward, held it in place and flipped the seat over. Continuing to stretch vinyl forward and with 2 staples anchored the vinyl in place. I then stapled one side in place. I then started stapling the other, making sure to pull the vinyl extra tight. The result looked good, so I bolted the seat to the scooter. You can judge for yourself.
