The picture of motor means little. What would mean something is the number low on crankcase next to the kickstand.
I would venture to guess you have never adjusted the valve clearances. Read about it in the library, there are instructions there. Also read the scooterdoc manual, there is much there you will need to know.
If you have not done a PDI it is not too late. These scooters have a lot of niggly little problems that are cured by the PDI. Loose connectors are some of them.

Problem solved. I installed a new battery and the scooter no longer stalls.

I have this engine and the CDI is DC. So maybe itcomes form the battery? Do one change and check results.
