yep, i don't see having a problem keeping up with the big boys. gonna wait till the temp gets above 21 degrees before i do any more testing tho. even with winter gear that's cold at 70 mph. i think the biggest complaint was the 3.4 gal gas tank and having to refuel every 80 miles instead of 100 or more.

found out why the bike was "free"; 2 new tires new battery new brake pads and shoes new voltage regulator new fuel pump and relay new brake lines- clutch line,( not available from manufacturer) new master cylinder rebuild kits used gas tank new mirrors new directional signals ( some moron hit it and it went over) lots of elbow grease getting through 30 years of neglect. need to clean up a few more things but it's almost ready for Americade

still have the forks to do yet as the seals leak and the fuel lines and the radiator flush but it's almost ready.

You've run headlong into the reason so many perfectly good motorcycles become trash or scrap. They wear things out from use and need repairs. The owner walks away because they can't do the work and won't, or can't, pay someone to fix it. My 1991 Nighthawk was a victim too but it's back on the road.

i don't mind fixing older stuff but it sure would help if the stealerships would stop marking stuff up by 2000 percent.

It's not only the stealerships thats screwing the public either. I just bought a package of hillman wall anchors at walmart and the whole package is bad. Took them with me when I went to the hardware store to get just one that worked. The guy there scanned the package the bad ones were in and found out they were not in the hillman line up/...... walmart only! figure's...walmart is buying rejects. I am going to ask for the manager when I take them back to walmart, I am pissed.

And for very low dough,, there's no way you could come close that hawk for the money you have in it,,, when/if I get the BMW restore finished I'll have maybe $4500 in it and a new equivalent model is way north of 10 large,,

so the window thermometer says 96 degrees and i figure why not? i start her up, cruise the main drag and side streets for about 20 min or so warming her up and hit the 4 lane. 106 indicated @ 9700rpm with more throttle left. i love this bike.
