That is funny. I'm a string tickler, too. I play mostly acoustic and Ovation and Adamas (USA made) are my favorites. I remember the Harmony guitars trying to look like something they wasn't.  Didn't Sears used to sell them?

Looks like you got a good deal AND it'll give you something to play with for awhile. Keep us posted on the diagnosis and prognosis.  Is Vroom the brand?

Vroom seems to be the dealer. From what I can tell there was a guy in southern illinois who sold scooters under his own name.

I had an ovation uke once. Hated the round back. I just couldn't hold it.

Update!

I have the engine put together. Everything fits so far. Tomorrow I'm putting the shroud on and attempting to put the exhaust on. The late Bluefront had an issue when he changed heads, but it's nothing a trip to a welding shop won't fix.
I see from the plumbing on the scoot that the original head had the pair system. My replacement head does not. I hope that won't cause trouble when I get it inspected. I don't want to be riding dirty. Though I don't think the police around here care about a middle age guy on a scooter going 40 when they have gangs, robberies and general unrest around here.
We have a street that goes from south to north across the whole city limits that is the main drag for those guys on the motorcycles that do wheelies and other dangerous stuff. None of these bikes have plates that I can see.
And it's not like they are on some back road. This street goes right by Busch Stadium.
If the fuzz haven't put the kibosh on them, then I'm good.

Just to wrap up this thread, I didn't feel like messing with a bike that I couldn't ride and even if I pour lots of money into it I still have a chineese scooter. I traded it last week for a honda spree that I hope to fix up and sell in order to buy something else.

And the cycle continues
