I think I messed up. After wrestling with that variator, I got paranoid, even though it was not seized, there was something wrong with the splines. But anyway, I put anti -seize on the splines AND the threads on the variator and the clutch. I torqued them down pretty good with an impact, but I'm thinking I need to put blue loctite on the threads instead. What do you think?

The nut I don't believe really needs loctite,.....don't think the manufacturer used any. They just wack it with an impact and it's done. Be easy to clean it off and hit it with a impact. If you get paranoid a drop of blue locktite.
I would think every spring, part of getting ready for the season it would not hurt checking and cleaning the rollers anyway. Once you have done it the job isn't any big deal.
