Having probs with my sons atv, its a Lifan gy6 125cc engine (now 180cc) that was given to me in a bad state as a project, Got the motor running and then restored for him to enjoy. The problem i have is the regulator is not sending out enough voltage to charge the battery. I have tried 3 new (4 pin) boxes but have noticed there are 5 & 6 pin available. I only replaced like for like that was already fitted. I have replaced everything with new: 8 pole stator/coil/HT lead/plug/cdi/starter relay/battery but needs to be mains charged.
I was going to sell for spares but because the 180 kit has only had 4hrs use it seems a waste if this can be fixed.
May be such an occasion you could fit an 11 pole stator and flywheel from a 150 and then swap the other charging system bits. Idk for sure, but I believe the stator will fit not 100% on the flywheel. Worst case scenario you float the ground and ditch the AC lights so all stator output is DC???

Hi,
You dont happen to have an easy to follow diagram on how to make it DC (got lights but not wired anyway)

cheers pete.
Sorry for such a delay, life's fought tough and kinda Clint Eastwood esque lately. I don't, have a step by step, but there are several write ups if doing this same thing everywhere. Search the forums for ' convert ac cdi system to DC cdi system'
