I've still got my Jmstar. Still only starts if I jump across the starter seloniod. I can leave the key in my house. All the lights work with the key. But not the engine. I'm going crazy with this.

I think I have the same bike.
I have had it for several weeks now and one odd thing I found is that the kill switch won't kill the engine...however...if the switch is in the "off" position the engine will not start.
Another thought - the plugs on the kill switch - if unplugged or put in backward the engine will not turn over without bumping the starter....learned this after loosing the tags when I took the dash apart.
Hope this helps.

Small world. I'll have to check the kill switch. Last year when I was trying to get it running I might have switched the wires on the kill button. Another thing I noticed is that at the front under the seat the is a white plastic thing with a cap on it if it fills with gas the engine will start. I can see that the fuel pump is pumping gas it it, but it seems that it won't keep it full to keep the engine running. Do you have any ideas about this? Thanks in advance.

Not sure on this one...sounds like a fuel filter?
Is this the Vertical or Horizontal engine?

Seems like your fuel pump is not keeping up with engine demand,,,check all the vacuum lines and make sure there's no cracks or splits,,,check the intake manifold for cracks and snugness to the head,,,if all that checks out the pump itself may be faulty

I'll check the vacuum lines. Is there readily available fuel pump for this thing I could substitute if needed? What is the whitish thing under the seat? I see fuel being pumped into it as i crank the engine. It will only crank if jump across the starter seloniod. All the lights work with the key.everything is connected. But the key can be left in the house. Not needed to crank the engine. The one thing that doesn't work is left brake handle won't turn on the brake light. The right on will. I don't need to hold either one to jump crank it. Thanks in advance for any leads. Ed
