Hey all, just joined and need help troubleshooting possibly. First because i know someone will ask, i dont know what the make/model of my scooter is, its a Frankenstein of a scooter i believe lol, no insignias, logos branding of anykind anywhere. All i know is its a 70cc chinese scooter and 99% of the videos i find on youtbue that work for me are the ones related to the gy6? Ive been learning to fix everything myself to save on labor costs of taking to a shop and just to have the knowledge of how to do these things for myself. My current issue is that my scooter fires right up when i start it, and it idles just fine as well, but soon as i hit the throttle wether slow or fast it bogs down and dies. In the past year ive replaced the throttle cable, starter, carburetor, petcock, sparkplug, cdi module, air filter and fuel lines. I recently noticed that there is no fuel filter anywhere, so i purchased one to install which should be quite easy. My only thought left is maybe water in the gas? It was working just fine, i filled the tank on my way home, an the next morning when i went to go to work is when it started doing this. I know how to drain the gas from the tank, but what i need help with is how to drain the carb. Can i just unscrew the screw to the short hose coming off the carb or do i need to take the entire carb off the scooter or what? Any advice would be great. THANKS!

I'd say there's a bit of debris in the Jets starving the engine of fuel

I did add that sea foam cleanser to the fuel and that has seemed to help somewhat but still not full on great. Someone suggested using heet to get out any moisture but didnt know if that is safe to use in the scooter.

Bare in mind I am not a mechanic, I just happen to be driving these things for about a decade now.. So I know some things..
Try priming it while it's running, by default you should hear the idle pickup if you have a nice prime pulse going on. if it's practically an instant cut off there's to much gas going on.. But..
Sounds like your bike might be getting to much air. Or not enough. Is the air filter 100 percent on? any cracks in the plastic anything? missing parts? If any of this has happened you might have collected sand debris to much more inside of your engine, but of course this would take a serious long time to notice any issues.
As a simple check, check your gas lines for any cracks, it has been really cold lately. if you still have the stock gas lines I'm sure there are some cracks somewhere. If so if you are lucky they will be at the ends and you will have enough space to cut it right at the crack and get bye for now. If there are any cracks you would be taking in more air with a burrn sound typically when you hit the throttle. Or just near impossible starts...
My bike did this recently, cracked fuel filter, when I started it, it smoked so I knew there was something not burning right lol, of course that motor is dead now..
Keep an eye on that fuel filter as well, that thing could have a hidden crack somewhere.
Another thing is.. Have you messed with the idle mixture screw lately? That might need to be adjusted.
It was 22 degrees this morning, these scooters do not work to well in the cold..

Thanks for all the info guys. I drained the tank an carb last night and put on new fiel lines and fuel filter, going to put fresh gas in it after work. And yeah motley its been awhile since i adjusted the idle screw will do that today too. The guy i bought it from said hes never pit anything but 93 in the tank, said anything lower will gunk it up, but a couple guys at work suggested using non ethanol fuel, said thats what they use in their atvs, dirk bikes etc, but dont know if thats good for scooters. Should i stick with the 93 or try the non ethanol? Searching online hasnt given me any very good answers lol

I still use 93 lol. non ethanol fuel would be killer and awesome, you might even see some better speeds oddly.
Well one day I ran 87 for the hell of it. Once I got home it was practically empty. Very odd. I had some good spunk off the engine with it lol in all seriousness. But something was off about using it in general. I also remember having a few backfires on start after running that crap.
I would only, only run anything bellow 93 if you are practically just about out of gas and the gas station is out of 93. But I would not put a full tank in it.
That Idle mixture screw shouldn't bother it to much, I typically find a nice setting for the winter. only down fall is anything around 60 degrees out and my rear wheel will spin which isn't really good on the clutch to keep like that.
Also by gosh be careful of the additive amount you put in the tank. If you have the time before putting fresh gas in it I would like to suggest buying a cheap 5 dollar fuel switch. It's nice to work on the gas lines with ease. If you buy one, you might need to grind the head of the nipple down a little. I had this issue. of course I had a grinder wheel to play with it. but if you do be careful you could destroy it. I bought a fuel switch in the past as my fuel petcock stopped working. Cheap bypass at the time, not I just use both
Also if you can pop the spark plug out that would be great. If it fires you shouldn't need to jump to buying a new one. but if you can clean it and inspect it that would help.
I wish I could be more help to you :/

Always non ethenol ethenol gas will destroy your carburator parts, fuel petcock diaphram, and fuel lines, since it dies off idle I suspect the gas has eaten a hole in the needle diaphram in the carb, so it kills it at mid throttle,

For me it was the auto choke. Mine wouldn't close. I am not getting enough voltage to get it function right. So I blocked it off. Even now when I come to an abrupt stop and then try to take off immediately it tries to stall. It can die. I think there's full still getting in the auto choke chamber. Just enough to cause this.
But unplug remove the auto choke and see if does what it is supposed to, open up (pull up into the auto choke) right away then close after some time (re-extend back out)
Do one change and check results.

parts for scooters has the kits to replace those enrichers with a cable, the electric enrichers cause more trouble then they are worth
