Developed following problem on my 50cc 4 stroke chinese scooter.
When I turn the ignition key to start position a) Dashboard lights don't come on b) Fuel gauge does not move c) Rear brake lights do not come on when squeezed d) No sound on the start button; can not start.
Battery seems ok .
I kick start engine runs a) Dashboard lights and fuel gauge on b) Brake lights , turn signals do not function

On your hand brakes (on both sides) you have two tiny safety switches. They fail sometimes. Most people apply left brake and then start the engine. Try squeezing the right brake and start with the button. If starter works, your left brake safety switch is broken, most likely stuck. Try to find it and clean it. happened to me once, took a while to figure out. If I remember correctly, the left side should push out, the right switch you push in when you squeeze the brake lever.

My concern is fuel gauge... check your ignition switch in that case. Something is off I guess. In that case, ignore everything above. Also, check your on/off switch. It actually may have 3 positions. Mine, even though marked as on/off only, had 3 positions. One was blocked by a spring inside that I discovered when I took it apart.I mention and show the switch in this video

Looks like there is a safety switch on the rear brakes can't see the one on the front brakes. In any case if I squeeze front brakes it won't start .
I will follow the electric diagram .
Can it be a ground problem ??
Thanks

It starts with the rear brake on? If so I'd be suspect of the front brake switch being bad or one of the terminations came off from vibration or a road bump

Also on the original post I'd say there's either a grounding issue or the power feed wire is broken internally or as Tom says the ignition switch has gone away

Also test the main fuse plus any other if applicable.
With a meter check fuse and power at main key switch.

Scooter will not start with automatic ignition.
Normally when I turn the ignition switch on, dashboard lights come on, fuel gauge needle starts moving it will honk and will power when I hit the start button. Right now none of the above happens .
I can kick start it though ....when I do Dashboard lights up, fuel gauge starts moving, it will honk ; but no brake lights when I squeeze the brakes , no turn signals.

Problem narrowed down to ignition switch , cleaning the contacts resolved problem for now.
Thank you all
