2011 puma romeo with stock engine. First off there is a hose coming from the gas tank that I can't figure out where it goes. When this hose is not clamped the bike will start and die. When it is clamped the bike will run but she hesitates, bogs badly up hills, and will just completely loose all power after about 5 miles of running. Then she will start back up with a small wait, maybe 30 seconds. Oh and she won't go over 40, even downhill, when normally she would go 55+ down hill. Also there was a back Crack in air box. When I went to replace it the filter was completely soaked in gas.

Only 2 hoses should be coming from the gas tank, the fuel line and the vent hose. The vent hose has to stay open . If it won't stay running with it open then you have an issue somewhere else. I'd say your getting too much fuel or not enough air flow at the carb. If you clamp the vent hose , your restricting the fuel flow to the carb , and if it actually runs better clamped , then I'd say your def either not getting enough airflow to the carb or too much fuel . Possibly even a stuck float valve in the carb bowl.

I just saw you said the air filter was soaked in gas , so I'd def say that the float valve isn't closing off the fuel and your flooding the engine

How to remove the side panel Heritage 150 to change vacuum pump If your talking about the vacuum petcock, remove the seat to get to it and just replace it with a regular Manuel fuel shutoff valve . The vacuum stuff is junk

as soon as I got a manual shutoff valve, I ditched that vacuum shutoff thing. it took about a week. haven't looked back. the same thing goes for that EGR system. the chinese know what they are doing when they make the vehicle so hard to fix. most people just get rid of the vehicle and buy another one and that's what they are hoping for. don't forget to have an inline filter.

bummer. I am looking at a BMS heritage manual and it shows the gas tank under the seat, just like my tao tao, but can also be under the foot platform. I know some bikes like ice bear mad dog require a fuel pump. I hate that design. these things are supposed to be practical. from what I have read, kymco is similar with a vacuum pulse fuel pump.

Yeah, it's actually more on the rare side to have the gas tank below the carb on these scoots.

if I ever buy another, the placement of the gas tank is going to be a major consideration. gravity reliably delivers the fuel to the carb, and I won't use a vacuum petcock either. that petcock is supposed to save you in case of an accident. it's supposed to stop fuel from going everywhere when you dump the bike, but I think it's more likely to cause an accident when it fails. the time I used one, it failed in five days. it's been almost a year since the bike died on the road and it was because of that petcock.
