Greetings all, I recently acquired a 150cc / GY6 scooter. It currently has no spark. I've put a meter on the battery, brake switch, stator and start relay and they check out as ok. The coil was questionable, so I have a new one coming. Hoping that will make a difference. Possible relation? The "kill switch" on the right handlebar currently allows the engine to crank in either the "on" (rotate) or "X" (non-rotate) position. Hmmm. Is this typical? Or, should it not rotate at all in the "X" position? If the new coil doesn't improve things, I'll check the "CDI" unit. One step at a time. Thanks in advance for your input!

hello gregmp,
I've worked on japanese mopeds for decades and it's always very easy to see the spark. with my gy6 150, I have to make an effort to create a 'dark room' to see the spark, or wait until night. there's no issue with the vehicle running. it runs great. it's just incredibly hard to see the spark. I just want to make sure this is not the case with you as well.

btw, my vehicle is similar and your vehicle cannot crank in the x position. put that switch to 'on' and see if you have spark. did you buy this vehicle new? it could be 'altered' so it can still crank in x. I've considered doing this with my gy6. those switches are not high quality IMO.

I need help. I barely know what I'm doin when it clmes to mechanica! Electrical. I'm a multimedia artist if that gives an idea. Started with no spark then moved quickly into the CEO replacement then battery then starter. Thought I had it fixed started to turn over but kept slamming into a locked position. I was able to turn the flywheel fan back. Tried to start. Sounded like it was about to them bam!slammed to a stop ANF would just lick. Replaced solenoid. Started to turn bit wouldn't atch" had a very whirry kinda crispy starting z pound not throaty like ususal. Then BAMM! slammed into a locked position wouldn't let me wind it back. Radiator on other side also locked up. Took the magneto flywheel off and am about to replace the stator with a used one that I got from another 150. Anyone have any thoughts
