Has any one out there installed a radio on a Icebear trike? I have the 150-9. I am lookin for the color code to find the ignition hot wire and the battery lead.
Tried a few wiring mishaps. Had power but flip the key on and it killed the radio/clock etc. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks Triker98304

Well my birthday is coming up and my boys are getting me an IPOD and a Speaker and they are also going to install it. They said this way I can load up my own music and not depend on whats on the radio. When they were in high school and college to make extra money they used to install radios and make boom boxes in cars for others. You should of seen my garage and driveway, cars and kids all over the place and the garage was rocking and rolling Alleyoop

Alleyoop Check out Goodeals.com and e-bay for motorcycle amps. Some of the amps have a plug for ipods with up to 500 watt amps. The radio I got was a cheap china one. It makes noise that is all I can say. Need a loud one hint hint... Triker98304

Radio wiring is generic on scooters, well for that matter cars too. On your ignition switch, with the key off, use a test light and back probe the wires in the ignition switch connector. When the test light lights, you have found the constant 12 volt feed to the switch, connect the constant 12 volt wire from your radio to this wire. Now turn your ignition switch on and probe the other wires, when it lights you have found the 12 volt switched wire, connect the radio swicthed wire here. Now make sure your black (ground) wire from the radio is connected to a good chassis ground. If it isn't you can get a back feed and the radio will not work properly.
Now a word of advice, get a small rocker on/off swicth, available at most parts or hardware stores. Wire this switch between the constant 12 volt wire of the ignition swicth and the constant 12 volt wire of the radio. Mount it somewhere on the bike. What we do is just run a wire from the positive side of the battery, to one side of the switch, then the other side of the switch to the constant 12 volt wire of the radio, instead of off the ignition swicth and mount the switch under the seat. What this does for you is a way of removing the constant drain of the radio on the battery when you let the trike sit for long periods of time, which will cause the battery to go dead.

I got the radio installed. I will post pics tomorrow if the snow hold off. I got the Shark MSA-200 from Gooddeals18.com. Here is the ordering info. I got the radio installed. I will post pics tomorrow if the snow holds off. They have a 1 year warranty. The amp went out I e-mailed them and they sent a new amp with in 1 week. On my trike I put the amp in the glove compartment. The cone speakers mounted right to the mirror mounts and the 100 watt amp cranks out some sounds and the radio feature is great. You can even run your MP3 thru the system. It took me about 45 mins to hook up all the wires hiding them under the trike, running the wires thru the little cubby-holes etc. Looks and sound great.

Wingcommander, Did you ever get the trike and the radio? Sorry but we got over 2 feet of snow. So when I can dig out the trike I will post some pics. Maybe spring...These trikes are not much of a snow plow. Triker98304

Wingcommander Glad you got the trike. I mounted the amp in the glove box on my trike and the speakers had a bracket that bolted on to the mirror mounts. You can get the mirror mount brackets seperately at several of the motorcycle radio outlets. I am sure you'll figure it all out. I will get pics ASAP. Did I rear on the other scooter forum that you were considering a trailer for your trike? I purchased on from Harvor Freight and wired it to the trike. If you need some help on the wirung let me know. I had to install a light converter to get the trailer working. The trailer will be great for the store runs. The total length is less than a car @ 13 feet. So you should not have a problem parking it. PM me if you need more info. Have a great Thnaaksgiving and Holiday season. Triker98304
