I have noticed that many of us have multiple scoots. Just wondering how many others have and why.
I have 3 one is my daily driver (weather permitting), one is my wife's, and one is a hot rod 50cc that I have way more money in then I could ever get out it.
I also like having a spare so when my 150 is down I still have something to ride. For example I had to wait 3 weeks for tires. I got a staple in my back tire so I took it off and found out that NOWONE will repair a motorcycle tire anymore. When did that happen? I ended up ordering a new one from the local Honda dealer. I waited a week and was told they were on back order and could take a month or more to come in. Canceled the order and ordered 2 from Motorcycle Superstore for the same price and had them in 4 days.

My VIP 50 was the first which I bought to see how I liked scootin'. When I saw the 250cc for $1350, I couldn't resist. Now I use the 50cc for back up and the occasional short run when I don't have to go over 40 mph for long runs. Both running good right now.

Back in September '09 my wife's sister and her husband (member Stevo) came down from Ohio towing a couple Sino-scoots. My wife, who has declined to get on any of the motorcycles I've owned, HAD to have a couple because they looked "fun". I had absolutely no experienve with scooters but I figured what the hey, if it'll get her on two wheels lets go. We purchased two "MP3-08's from Green Earth Scooters (Peace/Bashan 150's). One, my wife's, started and ran perfectly; it does to this day. Mine was a nightmare: hard starting, stalling, fuel leaks, vac problems, carb problems, bad tire, electrical problems, you name it. So I proceeded to slowly strip mine down bit by bit as I worked on it until it is the rat bike of today. I bought an Amore 150cc as a back up for the rat bike's down time similar to what you did JH (you better hang on to that CBR when you crack the throttle on that puppy!). So three scooters and I love them all. Now, if I can indulge in some hubris, a couple pictures of my Vulcan 1500 FI that still makes my heart skip a beat after 10 years. As per my 'bio' I have 5. My wife bought the first one, the Tank 150, at an auction as a gift. Since then I have owned a Tank 250 which I traded for my fav ride the TGB Del. 150, and have bought a Tomos Revival, a TGB/Peirspeed Del. 50, and an IceBear 150-8(my ride to the mail box and back if I am lucky--and I still am masochistic enough to like it!!). The Tomos is the motorhome bike. and I would sell the Tank and the Del. 50 but my wife, who will not ride one says to keep them all in case gas goes up to the $5.00 mark or higher. And I always listen to my wife. We have some plans for the TGB Del. 150 and if we can ever get the project off the ground I will give a report on it. If I had known about the Taiwanese TGB line that is all I would have ever owned. Releable, well built, reasonably priced, and the Del.150 has 6200 miles on it with out major problems. The 150 Del and a 150 reg. scooter in the line have GY6 oil cooled motors that produce 10.1 hp, enough to top out at 65. Whats not to like?

Rich...You really got to stop showing me pictures of your rat bike! It makes me want to start pulling plastic of my 50cc immediately! I need to control myself as that project needs to wait till after I get the 250 put into my Tank.
Nice pictures of your Vulcan! That's a beautiful bike.
I have a love hate relationship with the CBR. I bought it from my brother who lives in CA. He let it sit for 2 years and the carbs were full of green slime. It is so ridiculously fast that it isn't practical and encourages dangerous behavior. I may end up selling it back to my brother. I have just as much fun on my scoots without the danger to my driving record.

Once you go rat you'll be a hep cat! . Sorry, that was really stupid. I had a Kawi Eliminator and almost eliminated myself a few times. From what I understand the CBR is faster than that was....I can't imagine. I agree, scooters are a blast, not horribly expensive and no matter how much you juice them up you're not going to get dangerously fast. The fun is in tweaking them for as much as the little buggers will give you. Thanks for the kind words on the Vulcan, they only made that model for three years. It's a Classic and they still make that model of course, but my frame, tank, etc. was discontinued after a short run. Why I don't know. I really wouldn't want another style so I'm going to ride it till it wears out; the way it's running it'll wear me out. Rich
