On another thread last night it was brought to my attention that www.scooterdepot.us has had some pretty severe complaints against them in the past in several different categories so, I said that I would no longer be promoting them on this forum although that is where I purchased my scooter from at what I thought was a great price and fairly quick shipping with no shipping damage and good customer service in my opinion.
Now, I realized yesterday that the humpidy hump I have been experiencing with my scooters front end while running down the road was not a tire issue after all, I just had a new Michelin tire installed yesterday and after getting the wheel back on I notice very quickly that the jump in the front end had not changed and maybe even a little worse because there are no balance beads in the new tire, after closer inspection I seen that it is a bad wheel that is my problem, the wheel is not machined true in the hub, it seems that when the center of the wheel was machined for the bearings it was machined off center and this causes a cam-ming action when it rotates rather than rolling true, I leaned up over the front of my scooter while running about 25-30mph and there it was so easy to see the wheel has a eccentric rotation which gets the front end jumping very uncomfortably at 30-45mph.
I made a short video of the wheel spinning while I had the scooter on the center stand and e-mailed it to Patrick the fella I had talked too last evening, he told me he would look at it and also show it to his Boss, I contacted him this morning and he watched the video while we were on the phone, he said he could see what I was talking about and his boss needed to see it before he could go forward, he contacted me earlier and said his boss watched the video and told him to get me a new wheel ordered for a warranted replacement, they said it may take up to 3 weeks for me to get the wheel but it will be ordered today.
So......now it's the old hurry up and wait game, I will find out in the next few weeks if they are gonna shaft me on this or I will get good warranty service from them on it instead, wish me good fortune on this guys.......I got my fingers crossed here.
If I had of known then what I know now I would have never ordered a scooter from someone who doesn't even stock the replacement parts for them, they force you into buying a $69.00 6 month warranty from them and then if you need something they have to order it from who knows where...! and you have to wait 3-4 weks to get the part.
I'm hoping to get my wheel and then I'm done with them, I talked to one fella yesterday that told me they have not even had any of the model scooters that I bought from them in stock for over 6 months, (MC-74-150 Roketa) I said well thats funny I just bought one from you July 1 2010 @ 1:57 AM this year, he said hold a moment please and then that is when I met Patrick which is handling my warranty issue now, so it does seem they have some pretty uninformed people at the phones.
For all that pointed me to the site listing complaints against them....Thanks
Shan
