I was getting a surging on my 150cc scooter and I figured it must be either in the belt or rollers. Scoot had 1,800 miles on it when it started getting worse. I ordered a new belt from Scrappydogscooters and rollers. My scooter came with 17 or 18 gram rollers and I dropped it back to 15 grams. The belt was 835 and I went to a 842. The new belt and rollers cured the surging and my speed went up nearly 5 MPH. Today I took my GPS along for the ride to check the actually speed, 55.3 MPH, a new record for this scooter. Previously it would top out at 55 on the Chinometer now it's 59 on the Chinometer. This was on level ground and I was wearing a heavy coat, gloves and riding normally sitting up. I would imagine if I went into a full tuck I might be able to squeeze 60 MPH out of her. I weigh 220 lbs. so I guess that's not too bad for a 150cc scooter.

Phil said that John said that 835 belt was in there to restrict top speed, why I don't know. Going to the 841 belt was supposed to allow for "more gearing" and more top speed.

What that longer belt does is to allow it to get to the top of each of the 2 pullys so the scooter has a lower low and a higher high. I have the same scooter with the long belt and a polisi variator that came with 12 gram rollers. I tried a combination of the 17 gram and the 12's and ended up using just 12 gram rollers. around here we have what some call mountains and I live on one of them. need hill climbing power!. sending a PM to gmoney

Now you also have to not get TOO big of a belt and the reason is this: If the belt is TOO long it will reach higher on your Variator Face Plate BUT it will not pull the Belt Down far enough in your Clutch pulley for the extra Speed. So sometimes putting on a longer belt you will actually loose some top end. Alleyoop

I got my scoot up to 49 mph the other day, with the wind at my back.

That 835 belt and 17g rollers definitely hold you back. Wait till it gets broke in good.

Yeah, it's running again. The Mikuni fuel pump quit on me and I killed the already weak starter trying to get it running. Original fuel pump, new starter, new battery - varoom. Just turned 10000 miles on it.
