In my first post, I talked about my 2007 150 w/2k miles on it. It is a 157QMJ, I have a 5 min. ride to the gym in the morning and about once every 3 weeks, it will refuse to start after sitting hot for about 90 mins. This never happens cold. it will always take me there, but sometimes refuses to take me home, whenever I am done my workout, there is the anxiety about maybe having to walk home. I ruled out gas, I changed the gas valve anyway. I have changed the CDI and the plug wire and coil also. Except for this periodic quirk, it runs great. Not sure where to go next on this. I need to mention that it always spins over,is not the battery or starter. Also, what would cause a rubbing noise coming from the CVT in the back at the pulley, like it is rubbing on the cover? Thanks, Cometman Tom

Hey Tom, glad to hear from you. I had that starting problem and it turned out to be the valve set on my Bashan 150cc. If you haven't already checked them, try setting both to .004" cold and see how that works. The coil and CDI can heat up too with use but you've ruled that out. You better pull your CVT cover and see if your belt is fraying, we had a guy not too long ago that had that rubbing sound and caught the belt just before it broke. Also, when you're in there, make sure there's not a lot of belt material on the variator and clutch facings. If they look black your slipping=clutch going or bad weights. Let us know what shakes out. Hey Rich, to re-adjust the valves was the first thing I did awhile back, you had mentioned it in a previous post. Since then I took the scooter out for a simulated gym ride a couple of times and brought it back and let it sit for about 90 min. to try to duplicate the situation and sure enough one time it would not start, I immediately checked for spark and there was none detected, that is how I discounted gas. I come back awhile later and it fires right up? ? CDI and plug wire and coil ruled out also. VERY FRUSTRATING!

Pick-up coil on the stator...especially on 2007 and 2008 models...

So that means replace the stator?? Which one does it have? How many poles? Or is it just a replacement part? Is there one that is recommended over another? Any part number suggested? Thank's Tom

May not be this part but they are cheap about $12 as I recall. They appear to go bad overtime and in high heat situations

The part is on its way from ScrappyDog today, I will let you know if it solves the problem. Much appreciated, Tom

I pulled the CVT cover and the belt looks good, but I believe, slapping or flopping up and down is creating the noise on the bottom of the cover, I see a little polishing. Time for a new belt I suppose, only 2k miles on scoot. Tom

Do you think the belt could have been the wrong size? If it is 842 perhaps it should be a 835?

Sprocket has a good thought there. If the belt is to loose it will slap on the cover and you may need to go to the next smaller belt for that scoot. When shut off the belt should be tight and you should not be able to get much movement when pushing up and down between the two Pulleys.

Also check your COIL and CDI's location, mount them as far away from the engine as possible. A lot of heat is generated around the engine and if they are to close to the engine itself they may be getting to hot causing the problem. Alleyoop
