Hi Troops. Just wanted to show how an ENRICHER(CHOKE) works: Notice the Mark I put on next to the Rubber part. The Plunger is actually inside the hole about 1/8 of an inch. Alleyoop Cold Enricher Plunger Retracted Motor OFF: Warm Enricher Plunger Starting to Extend out Motor Running: Hot Enricher Plunger is Fully Extended out Motor nice and warm about 3 minutes: Here is a Live Video of the ENRICHER WORKING: Scooter Enricher(Choke) and how it works. The Default of the Enricher(Choke) on a Scoot is the Plunger is Retracted when Cold. Once you start the Engine it receives Voltage and starts to Heat up the Element inside and the Plunger starts to Extend out to shut off the Extra fuel from coming in. It takes about 2-3 minutes for it to fully extend and it extends about 1/4 inch. Once fully Extended it completely blocks the fuel opening and no more extra fuel is feed to the engine. Once you shut the engine off the Plunger will Retract as it cools and it will be ready for the next cold start to allow extra fuel to the engine.

Thanks Alley, great illustration of how the enricher works after you start the engine. If the plunger is not coming out like you see in the pictures, you've got a bad unit. You can test this by running 12v off of a battery through the enricher connector. Alley, did you test this hooked up to the engine? I wasn't sure if it would start and run with the enricher mount open. Rich

These things are called enrichers, auto chokes and bystarters. Many people are confused about how this device works and mis-information abounds... I saw this video awhile back then lost it. It has resurfaced on You Tube So enjoy...and read the description about how it works.
