Roy,
That is a tremendous drop, something isn't right. But not sure what. I will have to ponder it.

What are your rpms climbing to? You may have to heavy of weights in the Variator which will keep the Belt up in the upper range of the Variator. Alleyoop

I can hit 55Mph on the cinameter going down hill with a cold tail wind. Going up the same hill coming home about 35/40mph. Are you going uphill from a dead stop? Jim is right that's a real big gap. Most 50s don't like hills but jeez, how much of a grade are you climbing?

Don't have the tach installed yet but didn't sound like it was rapping out. Weather is getting colder so going to check variator, clutch, belt and install digital dyno. Some of those hills are pretty steep. And no didn't start from a dead stop. When I ride my renegade 50 on the same route only loose about 5 mph. Now I know the trike weighs quite a bit more. I expected speed to drop a little more. I'll get it figured out. I got this to tinker with anyway. ;D

I would check your weights, weigh the weights if you don't have a gram scale take it to a store that has one Post Office etc.. You can take all 6 weights or just one. Everything esle is new, belt, clutch etc.. It just depends what weights they put in there. Alleyoop

Another thing you might want to check is your Air/Fuel mixture, I don't know if a PDI was done or it was dropped shipped directly from CA. If it came from CA directly from Ice Bear then I am sure the Air/Fuel mixture is set really Lean. In Cooler Weather the engine needs more fuel. Alleyoop

Alley,
It was a drop ship and he did his own PDI, even took body panels off to check things. He did have an idle and running problem in the beginning which turned out to be a vacuum leak and did readjust the carb afterwards.

sorry 'bout the slow response. Things got kinda hectic this week and haven't had a chance to look at the scoot. I did do the pdi checked every thing replaced all hoses locktighted all nuts and bolts ect. I did have a vacuum leak in vapor canister got that resolved. adjusted carb. and plug looks good. nice caramel brown color. could use some advice on weights though. what would be a good starting point. Will do an update when time permits.

Royldoc, The best thing to do is mark your Variator like the picture and then run it like you stole and see how much of a mark you have left. That will tell you if the belt is going up high enough or the belt is staying low. Alleyoop
