Need some help and see some messages from April. My choke does not work, and it is a new carb and choke. I know that it needs power and I think it comes from the armature yellow thru a control box, which I "think" is just a 10.2 ohm 5 watt load resistor in case the coil on the auto enrichener shorts, the source will not blow. Can anyone tell me is this is correct, and if so, can I just hook it up to the battery using the ballast resistor. The scoot runs great, just hard to start after cold, or overnight sit. I have to blip the throttle about 3 or 4 times to get it started and let it warm before any gas is given. Once warmed it runs great. Thanks for any help you may give me. Regards Pat

Have you set the valves lately? That'll make it act like that. As I remember, that scoot has a weird gap, like .006 exhaust and .005 intake (inches). So you better consult your manual or look at the valve set tutorial, I believe it mentions that scoot. On most scoots the choke runs right off of the yellow and lights up the enricher circuit when the stator starts spinning, on that one I think it's a little weird as you stated. However, I think it would still be safe to hook it up to a 12V battery and check it. Rich

I would set the intake valve gap at .004" and the exhaust at .005" and go from there...
