So I heard that Florida is adopting California's emission regulations. Now I'm wondering what that will mean for my bike and what I can do with it. While I don't think my bike will need to be CARB approved since CARB is a California only thing, I don't know what equipment my bike might be required to have under Florida's regulations.
Anyway I have a Helix clone with the 244 CFmoto engine. It's currently vented to atmosphere since the PCV stopped working and kept blowing the hose out of the valve cover. I like doing performance upgrades, currently I've got a pod filter, performance CDI/Coil and a CVK carb. I'd like to know beforehand what needs to be done to make my bike compliant. I've never had to do a emission test in Florida.

I haven't heard about that yet, and with the new governor looking to cut billions from the budget, I doubt it will ever be implemented now. It would just cost way too much because there is no way they have the money to start emissions testing. Besides that it won't matter if you already have the Scooter now, you would be grandfathered in because it's an older model. I have a 1986 Pontiac there's no way in hell anybody could EVER make emissions compliant to todays standards.

I just researched that and it went to the Florida legislature in 2008 but was not approved. If it had it wouldn't have started to take affect until 2016 anyway, and then only with new vehicles sold after 2016. Don't worry about it, we appear to be safe. I don't see it happening for a very long time because unemployment is so high now, there's no way they do anything to raise gas prices in this economy. I'm sure the tree-huggers will try to bring it up again in the future but it's not needed or wanted here.

That's a relief, thanks.
I was told on /o/ that Florida was going to start doing emission testing across Florida in 2010. I couldn't find any information on it.

Yeah luckily thats not going too happen statewide. It could be the county you live in though. I know several years back they had started emissions testing in Hillsborough County, but not in Polk County where I live. But again they can't make you retrofit an older model to meet new standards.

Yeah I live in Hillsborough. I hope they don't bring it back. If they did I might go move back up to Pasco and just make the commute to USF and back.

Just get a P.O Box in Pasco and have some of your mail, like your Scooter registration mailed there. That way you have a Pasco address for your Scooter.
