Has anybody tried a JCosta in a 250 scooter CN250 244cc? I hate to tear into mine when the 21gr. dr. puley sliders are new but the noise is irritating!!! I quess I'll wrestle with it today!!!

I use 19 gram Dr. Pulley sliders which give an excellent result in my 244cc engine. There is no rattling noise or any other indication that there is a different from stock variator weight installed. The three U shaped inserts should also be replaced with Dr. Pulley units when installing the new weights.
19 gram sliders give better acceleration and hill climbing while still retaining top speed.

do you think the u shaped inserts are causing the noise, because the sliders are new and the scooter has just 4000 easy miles on it!!!

I did pull it apart and didn't see unusual wear but they did look like some wearing on the edges of the sliders!!! I believe it's a poor fit between the variator and the sliders, but what do I know except people are coming up to me and asking if I have checked the oil in my scooter!!! lol!!!

Hi swh22, I have Roketa 250B and after installing JCosta, I couldn't believe the difference. At the speed about 70 m/h I used to run it @ around 7,000 RPM. With the JCosta, same speed @ 5,200 RPM. The difference in an acceleration is also noticeable. Just make sure, you choose the right set up for your ride. Have fun!

I've installed a brand new variator with dr. pulley 19g sliders and still have rattling sound !!! I'm wondering if I could put some grease on those sliders to quiet them down? stumped in ga.

Dr. Pulley sliders should not be lubricated. I really doubt that the weights could cause any noise. Once the engine is running, centrifugal force wedges the weights between the ramp plate and the movable variator half. When the weights are correctly installed, they will be firmly held in place by centrifugal force which increases with the speed of the engine. Dr. Pulley sliders have to be installed exactly per instructions to work correctly.

Another source of a rattling noise in the CVT can be a loose belt. Sometimes the belt slaps on the inside of the case especially at lower speeds. Have you tried running without the CVT cover to see if the noise goes away or maybe you can pinpoint the noise better?

swh22 has found the problem with his 4400 mile redstreak 250 navigator!!! I was having variator noise so I took the variator off and cranked my scooter!!! the noise is still there ,so I guess my crankshaft bearing is bad!!! What do I do now and what's it gonna cost!!! It was probably going bad while it was under warranty but dealer didn't find it!!! Oh Well !!!
