The "other" mark that overshoots is the "V"mark by the oil fill. When it is ON the mark, the flywheel is not matched up yet. So when I line up the flywheel, the "V" overshoots an disappears. Am I making any sense ?
Thanks again
P.S. My knees are really taking a beating

Thank you for a quick response. OK, I did hand turn, not cranked by the starter. When I get the mark lined up at the cam sprocket, the other over shoots. How many more time have turn to get all marks aligned?
Thanks again

Working on my 250B. After 2 hrs of cranking, can't match both marks exactly. Which is more critical to be closer to the mark? The one by the timing chain or the one by the oil fill? Also, does it matter which direction the timing wheel is rotated? My knees is are giving out after so many squats. ASAP help would be much appreciated, I am working in the outdoors.
Thanks

...that's what I was afraid off, the dreaded valve job. I have no garage, so it is a challenging task. Thank you Alleyoop!
P.S. the valves were set per spec: .oo4" upper and .005" the exhaust
P.S.S. I had an oversize (300cc) kit installed and the mechanic never readjusted the carb. Could this effect the performance?

When starting cold, runs like a champ. Coming home in the late afternoon had a hard time to keep it from stalling at the every stop (actually stalled several times) light. Had to keep it at least at 2100 rpm. I have reset the valves less then 1000 miles ago. Any clues?

Need to replace a crankshaft assembly on my MC54-250B [2008]. Is there a need to replace the oil seals with the new ones? Is there a good source for it?
Thanks for any input

Hi swh22, I have Roketa 250B and after installing JCosta, I couldn't believe the difference. At the speed about 70 m/h I used to run it @ around 7,000 RPM. With the JCosta, same speed @ 5,200 RPM. The difference in an acceleration is also noticeable. Just make sure, you choose the right set up for your ride. Have fun!

My MC54-250B sustained some damage, after I ran it dry (no oil in crankcase) for some 22 miles at the freeway speeds. Consequently, am looking for a crank bearing. Any one has the part number am looking for? Also, any source where I can buy one?
Thanks for any input

Dannicus is correct. Simple physics applies here. Example; hop onto a 18-speed bicycle starting in a lower drive sprocket, switch then onto higher one and see how your legs will feel. You'll need more power to gain the speed. In the end, one with more power ….wins!

Thank you guys for the great info. I really appreciate it.
Today I have started up my scoot and paid more attention to the sound of the engine. I am hearing knocking noise. Would that be valves? What would cause the noise?

Thanks Widehide, I knew there will be some work to be done. Am lucky that the engine did not seize. I still can get up to a little over 80 m/h! I don’t want to ride it anymore, until it’s repaired

After running 22 miles (Highway)with NO OIL in the crankcase (lost it due to the loose oil fill plug) My 250B (6,500 miles) is burning oil when trying to ride it. “Lucas” oil treatment did not help. What’s the solution? 1.New piston rings? 2.Big Bore Kit? (is there one?) Am open for suggestions.

AN UPDATE: I have replaced the synthetic oil with a quart of Slick-50. The initial slight "click" disappears in 10 seconds. Looks like I lucked out this time, and there is no apparent damage done to the engine...fiewwww! Still waiting for the heavier weights (15.5 gr) for the J.Costa variator to gain the top end speed.
