Kz: The gauge has km on the outer ring and miles on the inner ring and the odo reads in kilometers, no trip meter.
Mcalli: Yeah the turnpike has looked the same as far as I can remember it.
Is Howard Johnson even still in business? I do remember when they were everywhere but I can't think of the last time I seen one.

This is from Wikipedia so it's as close to the truth as I can find.
As of September 2010[update], there were only three Howard Johnson's restaurants in business, each of them a former franchised restaurant from the original Howard Johnson's company. The restaurants are in Lake George and Lake Placid, New York, and Bangor, Maine.
All pretty far out of the way so you wouldn't see them if you weren't looking. I may have seen the Lake Placid one once. It was in town on the Main Street as I recall.

I remember when you would see more orange roofs than golden arches. I guess times change.

That's 279 miles in real numbers. Not bad for this time of year. What kind of gas mileage are you seeing so far? It's probably good enough to make oil executives grit their teeth.

I filled it when I first got it so I could keep track. I was 356 this morning when I topped it off and it made a even 3 gals so far. So 356/3=118km x .62=73mpg so far.

Thanks for b'day wish. I got busy later and missed it. 73 mpg on a new engine, not bad. You'll probably be close to 80 once it's all loosened up.

I think you'll get better than that. My wife's getting 76 mpg out of the Rebel pushing a windshield and doing 70+ mph all the time. You have a mildly tuned 200cc single and no shield (yet). I'll bet you'll be staring at close to 80 mpg once it loosens up.

I might be adding another china bike soon. We were going to trade the gas guzzling truck for a compact car when my son got his tax return. Well he went and got into an accident with the truck so its not gonna be worth much. So hes decided to get back on 2 wheels and just ride the bus to school when the weather is bad. I guess hes decided if the old man can do it for 5 yrs he can do it too. ;D Its hard to beat the cheap fuel and insurance bill with these bikes/scooters.

Andrew - boy those pictures of the pike look familiar. I used to work in Somerset and know the wind farm very well. You should see the ones we have around here. If you look in the background of the 2nd pic you took at the Somerset rest stop, you can see the SCI Laurel Highlands state prison. When I worked there, it was Somerset State Hospital. They turned it into a prison in 1996 and I left.
Mcalli - all gone HoJos. There are still rest stops but less of them. They have done a lot of improvements on the pike but the same tunnels are still there. Hate em.
Andrew - the speedometer on my Xpeed has kilometers on the outside and mph on the inside. It's irritating but I got used to it. My odometer's switchable and has a reset trip.

I almost always carry a lil notebook in my pocket so I just write down the mileage in it when I fill up. As far as knowing my speed, I know it registers a lil fast so I use 60km for 35mph zones, 80 for 45mph and 100 (or red zone) as my 55+mph speed.

I didnt get to to for a ride yesterday because I had other stuff to get done. Today its raining It was raining kinka hard but has slowed to a sprinkle. Im tempted to throw some rain gear on and go for a ride before the heavy rains start again. It either that or start banging my head on the computer desk
