In Florida a mom is causing a stir when she does this to her son when he acts like an idiot in my opinion in school. I applod her for doing this because you take capital punishment away from parents what else are we as parents and yes I am a parent, the kids are having to much out of control issues you can whip there a$$ nor you can't do anything else to that messure and believe me the time out BULL SH$$$ does not work! I want your opinion on this parent or not I'm sorry if I pi$$ anyone off but my opinion is my opinion and leave it at that the link below is the story and I'm sure some of you will think different and some will agree. There is no manual for raising a kid and I've see how I raised mine and I've see how some raise others and some of those I'd like to slug cause I never hit my children but I did spank them but I was raised like that and not and I MEAN NO PSYCHOLOGIST IS GOING TO TELL ME HOW TO RAISE MY KIDS WHEN SOME OF THOSE NUT JOBS NEVER HAD KIDS! www.myfoxtampabay.com/dpp/news/local/hillsborough/bad-grades-land-teen-on-street-corner-02162011

good for her. Its one thing to take a test and do poorly, some children that are smart don't take tests well, but to answer four questions and say "I ain't gunna do da rest of dis stupid test" is ignorance and its about time parents start taking responsibility for their children's education. If school is the only place you learned anything you are bound to come out pretty damn stupid.

If one of my children EVER answered a teacher in this manner, I would beat their A$$ and remove ALL privilege's (sic). I am the parent and there are consequences .

They basically said the same thing about radio, the tv, I bet they thought running water was a bad idea back in the day too. The human race survived. I have a funny feeling we willl survive the computer as well.

laugh and walk out the door? sounds like they need a good spanking indeed!
as my mom always says "you arent too old for me to still spank!" and im 24!
you will always be your mother's child. LISTEN TO YO MOMMA!
i think the kid needed to stand on the corner with a sign so he can experience what he may end up doing if he doesnt get a halfway decent education. maybe if his mother was allowed to spank him he wouldnt be at that point!

I believe in capital punishment, my wife believes in capital volume. I believe a spank on the butt gets their attention more than screaming. My kids are 14 and 11 now and I have not had to spank in a while but the THREAT is still there and viable.

Well, my opinion is maybe we should enjoy this scooter site and stick to scooters. Otherwise eventually things will degrade into rants and flames about personal opinions on policical and religious posts that go nowhere.

no it won't zugzug. We are all adults here and most of us can agree to disagree. So far though, the majority of opinions here favor spanking. as do I.
Public humiliation seems to be running half and half. I don't like it.
It is nice to be able to discuss views in an adult manner with everyone putting in their opinion.

ok, then Ill give my opinion. lol. I think each child is different and different tactics have to be used depending on thier personality but I cant see public humiliation ever being a good tactic. I think you need set boundarys and rules and have known consquences for breaking those rules and enforce them when they are broken. Its just thier nature to test and see where the boundaries are. Once they know then they have thier "safe area". If your always wavering then they never know and are always testing to see where they are at. You can still love your kids and be "strict". The difference is they will love you back if you hold true to your values and disipline.

zug zug, i couldn't agree with you more. I think that sometimes grounding is necessary, or taking away some privileges, or spanking, or sending to bed early or any number of things are necessary for breaking the rules that are set in advance. I think the public humiliation on the corner is too extreme. It will make him hate his mother and make him more angry and he already seems like a very angry young man. I believe that all children need rules and descipline. They also need to be given age appropriate responsibilities. No rules, no responsibilities, n o discipline equals a child that doesn't feel loved, doesn't learn how to function in the world. That is one reason I am so worried about my daughters children. They have no responsibility. How are they ever going to function as adults?
