I don't know if you saw this or not. There was a massive solar flare on Tuesday. The solar matter is expected to hit us late Thursday or early Friday. The flare was strong enough that it may disrupt cell phones Internet services and other communications. It may also cause the Northern Lights.

It's always fascinated me that without the Earth's magnetosphere, life on this planet would be impossible. Further, if it was just a little bit weaker, flares such as the one cc is talking about would fry us to a crisp. Rich

Day or two back I heard mention of 'Northern Lights' activity on the news while doing something other than paying attention. Guess that was what they were referring to. "Fried to a crisp"... figuratively speaking, some of us have a head start.

It was supposed to hit late Thursday or early Friday. Unless they disrupt communications, power lines or cause the aurora, we never know it happened.
