I picked up a 61cc bolt-on kit on Thursday night for my scoot. I have a " terminally ill" 157QMJ engine on my 05 (MC-27) Roketa and have decided to upgrade it to a bigger bore while I have the chance and cash to do so. What I am still trying to decide is wether to spend the extra cash and go with a +3 stroker crankshaft or stick with a std 57.8 mm . Has anyone done simmilar what I will be doing to mine upgradewise ? Has anyone used the bigbore bolt-on kits in an engine upgrade? I am also thinking of adding a a9 cam to this . Are there any suggestions for upjeting my carb ? My big need right now is more topend . I take country roads at times and the higher speed is needed in some sections. I expect the upper kit ( cylinder upgrade and head assy) to be in by next friday. Im stuck waiting till later next week to order the crankshaft. The 13gr slider weights I got with my mrp variator upgrade I don't like either and will be upgrading to14-15gr ones . This mess unfortunatly started out when I stripped the threads on my crankshaft when I was replacing the variator assembly that was making one hell of a racket . I got the variator nut on wrong (not using a D@#* impact wrench as I should have and not installing the variator assy without the belt). After a couple of attempts at dealing with the issues and stripping out another variator faceplate I made the emergency decision to just upgrade . This would be the best time to do so for me since the engine was going to have to be torn apart and the crank and cylinder replaced. Adding further to the mess I had a vibration within the engine that was also getting worse. That vibration eventually snapped my exhaugst pipe bracket holder 2 weeks back and I had to have it rewelded (luckily at no cost to me) . I am doing my homework and watching and reading anything that will help me with this project. Any advice and help would be much appreciated. Luckily I am a very mechanically inclined person so doing my own work isn't an issue . Ok I've rambled on too much ! Bill C.

The +3mm stroker would boot me up to 64cc (if I am correct) . Do you think a 30mm carb would be a better idea than keeping and upjeting my stock carb ? I already know I need a performance tailpipe. After this upgrade with the engine, that is next on the list for me to get. Bill c.

Your bore will still be 61mm but your stroke will be longer. At 61mm bore X 60mm stroke puts you at about 180cc. Might want to put some better bearings in there while you have it apart. Your probably going to need some spacers under the jug too.

after looking at my finances this morning I may have to go with a stock 57.8 crankshaft for now. I have to refund a guy asap (from ebay ). I still need a new varitor facplate and nut , gasket set and if possible a a9 cam . I also must get a flywheel puller. The 61cc upgrade will still be an improvement in power than what I have had with just the stock 150cc. That should give me abit more topend correct ? Bill C.

In theory, yes, in practice who knows.
You still have the crankshaft problem...
