I've got a 2008 SunL (Jonway) Cozumel 150, and one reason I haven't been in a hurry to put my CVT back together is that the brake lights don't work! BULBS: All good TURN SIGNALS: Yep! Got 'em!
I have a nasty feeling of "bad juju" regarding the switches under the handlebar fairing. It's tough enough to try and lift it up and look- without breaking it!
Any suggestions/advice is welcome!

Check the ground running to lights and make certain it is good...
Buy a cheap multimeter and do some diagnostics

Can you start or turn or turn the engine over with the stater? If you can then the brake switch is ok. Check both brake switches one at a time.

Geez- it's been a long time since I've tried to start it. I'll check it this weekend.

Yeah....what they said.... If I can add something, and I will since I have this pic sitting around on the bucket:
On my naked scooter you can see the brown and yellow/green wires running into the rear light. The yellow/green is part of the starting circuit which carries juice to the starter button and brake light after the one of the brakes is pulled. If your scooter starts with each brake pulled in the problem lies in the wires and/or connections from that point on back. Here's a link to a diagram that should be similar to your scooter just in case you want to go off the deep end with a continuity tester. Rich
