Take a flashlight and look in the gas tank. Does it look rusty, gooey or water in the tank? If it does fix that problem before cleaning the carburetor.

If the battery is low on charge the wires will be warm. Make sure all grounds are clean and tight as mention above.

You should fix the play as soon as you can, may turn into a major safety issue and you do not want that.

All shims that i have seen go on the right side. Just make sure the variator and clutch line up so the belt will run without binding.

When you do remove the right side bearing sometimes there is a shim that must be put back on before the bearing is installed. Some cranks have a shim some do not. It is used to set crankshaft to case end play.

The sproket on the right side is for the oil pump. Just press it off and put it back on. no alignment needed. The left side is for timing chain and needs to be put back in the same place as removed. I mark the top tooth clooses to the crank pin. Now mark the crank pin with a mark that lines up with the said tooth. I use a engraver pencil. When you reinstall just line up your marks. You will be good to go.

I use a hair dryer to dry all wire connections. To get to ignition switch you will most likely have to remove a front panel.

Yes it will work well for both fuel and vacuum. It is also long lasting.

If you hear it in the area of the camshaft when you turn the engine over a small hiss is normal

15w-40 oil works great. It is used in trucks and you can find it most everywhere.
