Earlier today, I removed & repl'd the water pump in my new RR Racer w/Linhai 257cc eng. Upon removal of the water pump oil started draining out of the well were the pump sat in. I assumed this was normal as the bearing of the pump are continually lubricated. My ques. is was that transmission/gear oil fluid that ran out or was it engine crankcase oil? There is less than 300 miles on this engine and I'm not totally familiar with all of the fluids yet. It seems to have the color and consistency of 10W30 oil and not that of the typical 75W80 typical gear oil. I checked the eng oil dip stick and it showed full. Approx 1/2 qt or less ran out and drained into my catch pan.
I would appreciate any clarification on which oil this was than drained out of the water pump well.
Thanks in advance,
Ernie

That was engine oil.
Gear oil is right at the back wheel. Good luck.

Thanks kiwiscoot. Being a rank newbie to the 250's, I didn't want to explore into unknow country of fluids.
Thanks again,
Ern
