I've heard tires go hard over time. On the side of the tire should be a batch number which will tell you which month of which year it was manufactured. That tire is at least 5 years old and who knows how long that scoot sat in the shop perhaps in the sun. My philosophy is ride that darn scooter in order for the tires to wear out before they get old and brittle. You will not catch my scoot out with old hard tires On a serious note, thanks Luke for the warning, I'll check our other 2007 Xingyue scoot as it's a 2007 model.

Thanks everyone - just back from doing the granddad thing, holding babies and lots of photos. She was only 5 days old and I've already told her we're going to eat lots of icecreams together. I'm hundred percent sure she nodded. ;D

Hope this does not bore you, but I had to deal this wonderful news with you. Yesterday morning I became a "Pop" with a wonderful grand daugter born to my eldest son. ;D ;D Her name is Belle Fleur (Beautiful flower in French) and isn't she a beautiful little flower. Going down to Dunedin tonight to look and see her, but don't think I'll do it on the scoot as it's not to tropical here, had a -3C/27F this morning. Apparently (I'm new to this game) there is a good and a bad grandfather in every childs experience, well I'm going to be the bad grandfather - I'll spoil them rotten!!

My 2008 SYM Citycom has rolled passed 20 000miles a few months ago. A horn that needed tweeking, wire of speedo broke at steering head, one headlight bulb and a failed indicator relay were the only things that went wrong. These Taiwanese scoots seem to have their act together and I fail to see how a Jap/Italian scoots could've given better service. Aiming for the 40 000miles now. SYM = Smile Your Miles!

One of my favourite routes Guess it will be a while before I could ride it again. Trashed by the earthquakes. This was a video (Click on it) of one of my rides there Exact same spot. That's what I enjoyed - guess one's got to take the good and the "not so good". :dunno: www.stuff.co.nz/national/christchurch-earthquake/videos/5146744Video of fly over damage. @1:33 you can see a fly over the road - devastated. :dunno: :crying:

glad you are ok and were able to post here.....are you not thinking of moving?,,,i mean, if a certain place gets a lot of earthquakes, some hollow space might be forming underneath and one day the entire area would cave in.. (??) ,if i were you i'd start thinking of moving somewhere else. not easy but doable...you take care kiwi.. perhaps I may fall thru and land on your doorstep ;D Would you make me a cup of coffee?? I may be muddy

Well we're in for it again this week, 14 shakes over 4 magnitude, 125 over 2 this week, so far luckily only one fatality. Monday started with a 6.3 and 5.6 magnitude shakes. Yesterday we had 5 shakes over 4 magnitude. Our city just started to get on it's knees and now it's a mess again. People are a mess, relationships, driving, etc. Here you can get a picture of our life here. www.stuff.co.nz/national/christchurch-earthquake/photos/We just take it a day at a time. The greeting here is now "Are you OK?" (meaning you are alive) "Your home OK?" meaning it's still standing and you're living in it. It was a bit like being in a nightmare, but now it's becoming part of life. Unfortunately for some it's getting to much. It is not the best of feeling to be in buildings during an event and hear the building groaning and creaking. You can't run as the ground moves sometimes up to 10cm/5" up and sideways. Our tolerance levels seems to go up too as we seem to take any quakes below 4 just in our stride. I've been fortunate that my home has only minor damage as I live in the north west which is away from waterways and the estuary. But we can't complain as others have tornadoes, fires and floods. take care, enjoy your ride and Smile Your Miles

speedracer -do yourself a favour and look at the Kymco Downtown 300i too. My SYM Citycom will be a second choice after the Bufgie 400 & Downtown only in the power department. If you are a tall individual like me then the Citycom (or other 16" wheel scoots like Bevery, etc) will be a better fit.
