Been checking out the Burgman 400 to replace the 250. I'm going to purchase a new carb for the 250 and either sell it or give it to my son. Finding a carb isn't easy as the prices vary a lot. Anyone know of a good source that will fit the Linahi engine?
Thanks

I can't tell you about a Burgie but I have a Honda Silver Wing 600 and it is absolutely brilliant.

Well its like this, first it is like having a 4 cylinder and getting into an 8, then on top of that trading in a CHEVY for a CADDY. Now mind you since your getting into a Caddy that also takes in the cost to repair them. You cannot do much yourself on a Burgy, they are a complex machine not like a Chino 250. It weighs in at almost 600lb, so the ride is very stable and soft.
Although I probably will be selling it to my Brother-In Law for what I paid for it. He just wiped out his PST150H Trike in a huge pothole and sold it to the Tool Store for $600.00 bucks. He always wanted something with more power and did not feel safe on the Ice Bear. He had a stroke 5 years ago and needs something that is very reliable. He cannot turn a wrench so I used to work on his Ice Bear and several times he had taken it to the Tool Store.
For around here for me the 650 Burgy is really overkill and I also do not have room to keep both trikes in the garage. He really wants it and I will be selling it him so we can ride around like we used to, since his Ice Bear is already gone and he has nothing. Alleyoop Alleyoop

To be fair, speedracer is asking about the Burgman 400 in particular. The B400 is just as easy to work on as a Chinese 250, the biggest mechanical difference being fuel injection instead of carb. It will ride and handle smoother, vibrate less, have more power while still being agile, and just about never break down. It's still a Chevy vs. Cadillac comparison.

Thanks Alley and Jeff. Going to test ride the 400 tomorrow. Hearing they rarely breakdown sounds so good. Now I do have a 45 year old Chevy that will start on first try.
Jeff, where would you purchase a carb for a 250 54B?

The carb may be tricky as these scoots have shipped with different carbs. www.bmsmotorparts.com/product_info.php//products_id/1282 is our current favorite supplier but it will be more expensive. Hardest part for you will identifying your current carb if you want the very same model. Did you every get a model or part number off your carb? Does it look exactly like the one from the above link?

Jeff, that sure looks like. Do you think its a actual KEIHIN CVK carb or a knock off? I'd rather pay for quality. Thanks

Anyone know of a good source that will fit the Linahi engine? Thanks I don't think any of the thousands of Chinese scoots running around on the streets and the Chinese ATV's and go karts are using genuine Keihin carbs. I would think that they are using something like THIS. You might want to check it out. This should work fine to sell the scoot. I'm sure your son would prefer the Keihin.

Cruiser, my scooter isn't at the house at the moment, but I don't recall a vacuum nipple coming from under the enricher. Looking more at Keihen carb I know I don't have a throttle thumb screw. When you open the picture with 4 pictures in it, Japan appears in one of the pictures. What vacuum line would go to underneath the enricher?
Thanks

I looked at the carb section of the Honda Helix service manual and this nipple appears to be part of the carb heater circuit. The carb in the referenced link looks like the Helix carb.

Cruiser when looking at the pictures again I could see it is has the two nipples which are no longer needed. So that is the right carb and the price is great. I hope mine has the same openings 36mm and 48mm.

I hope this turns out OK for you. A made in Japan carb for that price that fits our scoots is hard to believe.

Cruiser, I'll let you know when I receive it. I'll take some pictures at the made in japan imprint and report on how it fits and runs. Thanks again for the link.

Your welcome, speedracer. I'm almost as anxious as you to learn more about this carb and see if it works OK.

speedracer -do yourself a favour and look at the Kymco Downtown 300i too. My SYM Citycom will be a second choice after the Bufgie 400 & Downtown only in the power department. If you are a tall individual like me then the Citycom (or other 16" wheel scoots like Bevery, etc) will be a better fit.
