There is a story in all this; I always thought sidecars were nice. When I had bought my Harley back in 1983 I actually ask about a side car, it was too expensive for my budget. Now that I have my Dazon 50 I been looking to build a small trailer to carry a few larger camping things. My mom passed away this October She had her friends and some call me from time to time to see how I doing. One lady (Opal), she is 83 and may be getting a little forgetful. She still cooks some good food and brings me some from time to time, from cakes and bread cooked in a can, to taco soup and deer stew. Another lady (Doris), is 93 and for her age she still has a sharp mind and reads a lot. Now she can talk on the phone for hours, and when I get time to save my ear from phone sores, I drop by her house and visit for an hour or two. She always saying how my scooter look like it be fun. One day on the phone I told her when the weather is right I take her for a ride. She saying; "Oh no, I not getting on it at my age, but, I bet it be fun"! Well Opal got wind of this and calls me up and says; "If, you get her on that scooter you better call me so I can be there and get a picture"! Well not long ago, I had stop by and when I was leaving, Doris comes out behind me still talking about how nice the scooter is. So, I again told her I was going to take her for a ride and she going on how she too old etc. I told her; "I going to get a sidecar so you can sit and ride better". Well she kinda laughed and said; "Now I might go for that if you not go too fast". I been looking for ideas for a sidecar, I kinda like the one with the wicker chair, Doris be sitting in high cotton in that! I have found a few ideas searching around, one is on instructables.com. It a bicycle sidecar a guy made to ride his son. I like how the frame looks easy enough and just do a few mods to make it for my scooter. Click image for website So, that where this story stands. Maybe soon I be looking for a Wicker Chair if anyone has one cheap! ;D

Very touching story Niedzwiedz, sorry to hear about your Mom. That's exemplary that you take time to spend with older folks. Often they have little contact with people because they can't get around very well. Consequently they get very lonely and depressed Being able to talk to someone really helps them. I went through the same thing with my Dad before he passed. I'd go to his place and just listen to his old war stories that I had heard many times before. Nobody else would visit and he was starting to get depressed. What's a little time out of a day to make older folks feel better? You're a good man for doing that. When you get your sidecar done send me a pic and I'll put it in with the other sidecars. Hopefully Doris or Opal will be sitting in the sidecar. Rich

Thanks Bashan. We can learn a lot from older people. They really have some cool stories of when they were young. Yea, I trying to get my metal and get a layout, if I can not find a small welder, I may have to hire that part done. Then figure out how to connect it to the Scooter, and if/when I reach that point, I may be looking for ideas from everyone.

I had a Cozy sidecar added to my TGB R9i in January. Have the full monte, windshield, tonneu cover, convertable top. Gas milage was terrible with the top and windshield on, removed them and gas milage went from 36 to 49 mpg. I was after the 3 wheels and the tub is for carrying stuff. I can tell you that driving a hack is not like driving a trike. Much different, and scary till you get the hang of it. I knew what to expect as I had done a lot of research beforehand. A good ref source is www.sidecar.com. I am pleased with it and if I can ever learn to post pix will send some. I are compooter illatrate.
