Need feedback on bigger bikes. May be accepting job 67 miles away, thats one way, and will need bigger bike, and need the job. Dont need to be locked into 25 MPG car for daily commute. Most of the 250 to 300 bikes look the same to me. Any comments will help. (Move is not the ans. I love the farm, dogs love farm, wife loves the farm, neighbors horses love the carrots and apples I feed them rofl).

If you're stuck on the idea of a scooter, a trip like that will require something to go day after day. Take the plunge, research www.craigslist.org motorcycles and buy a Honda Reflex or Suzuki Burgman. If you can expand your thinking and move towards a motorcycle, any bike over 400cc will do you. Older Kawasaki 440s and 454s, Honda Nighthawks, Suzuki GS 500s and Yamaha Maxims. My friend had a Yamaha 650 Seca he parted with last year for under $1500 that would have been perfect.

I was thinking that might be the way to go, but want to see if anyone rides their big china bike a lot of miles. I dont want to go back to a full motor got rid of my Road King las summer. Dont like the engine heat on hot days and definately do not like the weight high up when stopped. Thanks for the reply.

Once I got the intial pdi problems out of the way by getting George to fine tune my bike, I really like my Roketa 54B 257cc bike. It has a linhai yamaha clone engine and I have had no problems with it. It is a heavier bike (almost 400 lbs net weight) It has enough power to do highways with ease and even though I am still in the break-in stage, I am averaging 80 miles per gallon. That is a combination of short spirt driving and driving 20 miles to and from work with 4 lane roads doing about 55 to 60. (speed limit). I like it. I like the windshield which does an amazing job of keeping most of the wind off of you (you still get wind, just not as strong) so you don't tire as quickly. I agree with jr. The 54B for me, has been a positive experience (of course, I only have 200 miles on it. Next week, I am going to do an oil change and crank case oil change.
