I was installing fuel hoses last night and the last clamp in the kit would not tighten up. the screw would turn a few turns then would bind up. So I'm thinking no problem I got some in the shop. Well I searched for some time to no avail . Wouldn't you know it I got every type and size of clamp but what I need. Well I'm wanting to get this project done so I proceed to take the clamp apart and find out why it don't work. I got it apart didn't see anything wrong (clamps are fairly simple devices). I Put it back together and it still don't work, huh. I took it apart again and inspected it under a magnifying glass. the threads on the worm screw were cut all the way to the head causing it to tighten up. I get my files out and clean up the screw around the head. I put it back together and tested it. after several try's I finally got it to work. ;D Now here is the funny part. I spend hundreds of dollars and many hours modding this scooter and I spent nearly 2 hours trying to fix a .20 cent hose clamp.

doctor rolly, pls don't stress yourself next time..you can always grab a piece of copper wire or even paper clip loop it around that tubing twice then use pliers to tighten it up then put one drop of mighty bond over it,...that simple and easy. good luck, enjoy and ride safe!!

NAY, it was more fun trying to figure out why the sucker would not screw in. And besides gave him a beer break, take a sip look, take another sip and finally with his eyes glazed over he found the problem Alleyoop

Usually when that happens, I would put the clamp in a vise which would not tighten properly. Then I would try and figure out why the vise does not work so then I would take it apart and then the ratchet has been slipping for a while so I would take it apart to find out why. Then I would have to go to the store to buy a new snap clip to fix the ratchet to fix the vise to fix the clamp to fix the scoot.

Sounds fairly de rigueur to me... Can't count the number of times I got held up on a project due to one wrong bolt, machine screw, doohickey, ad nauseum. I like the twisted wire suggestion, usually resort to zip-ties in such si-chee-ations myself.
