I opened the CVT up and it's clean. I took a few pictures to show how it looks. I'm not sure where to go from here besides actually taking the variator off and seeing whats behind it. I will need an impact wrench to get the variator off. Any other suggestions? Attachments:

It does look nice and clean. but have you started the scooter up and actually watched to see that the variator and clutch are working properly? That would be the first thing before you take off the Variator. Start it up and make sure that it is closing all the way and that the belt is pulling in and opening the clutch side. If if it does not go through the full travel then I would say you need to pull that Variator off and check out the rollers.

I started it up and took a look at the CVT as it ran, it looks like it is running perfect to me.
For an update:
New Parts:
Carberatur CDI Box Stator
CVT looks healthy. Maybe the weights are off?
What steps should I take next?
Thanks a ton for all the help!

Mcalli, Where in the world did you get the idea that the tank was manufactured and assembled in the U.S.A? If so please put up the link of the manufacture. Alleyoop If you look under the subtitle of 50 to 200 cc engines and look up sprockets thread "who really made your scooter" you will find a nifty little tool where you type in the vin number of your scooter and the name of the manufacturer, the city and town and country will come up. Even though my bike has chinese parts, it was assembled (manufactured) in Ontario, California, usa. Read the thread, Alleyoop, and if I am misunderstanding it, let me know. here is what my vin number turned up: Roketa Inc WMI 5RY/ Address 2041 S Turner Ave Ontario CA 91761-8510, 917618510 United States Product Type Motorcycles - Complete, Street-Use Date 05 Aug, 2005 You can find out who made what scooter at this website; www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/manufacture/cLICK ON link. Check wmi box on left. Add first 3 number/letters of your vin number on box on right where it says wmi and click. It will tell you where your bike was manufactured. This link under the 50 to 200 cc bikes was provided by sprocket. So, check it out, swallow your laughter if you are incorrect, or intelligently inform me if I am wrong. BTW- I hear that "eating crow" isn't that bad if you marinate it in wine first. ;D I also thought that my bike was assembled in China until sproket provided me with this link. So let me know what you think.

I don't think I will have CROW at this time.
Roketa is a CONTRACT MANUFACTURER - IMPORTS their Scoots from China also a Distributor and Wholesaler in CA, they have a huge warehouse there. Do you really think you could buy a 250 scooter for that price if it was ACTUALLY made in the U.S.A. To my knowledge there are NO SCOOTER manufacturers in the U.S.A if so look for a price around $10,000.00 or more. Alleyoop

Doesn't matter if the carburetor is new or not. Look at the top where the diaphragm seals and see if everything is up to snuff. Also if the diaphragm itself is alright. Every time I hear a 257 motor won't pull under load it's because the diaphragm is goofed up.

Diaphram on carb looks good. I don't see anything else visually wrong with it.

It makes perfect sense and is what I thought when I first ordered my scooter. But according to sprocket, that link tells you where it was manufactured. So because of the way it is actually done, all I know is that it came from China, I have know way of knowing where, or who in china. And since some companies in china are reputable, and some are not, I guess I really don't know. Not so good. But the scooter is functioning well. My crow was delicious because I marinated it in olive oil, garlic and spices, and wine. Now we can get back to the subject of this thread. And the funny joke about China importing from the USA?- Don't laugh too hard. eventually it will probably happen. Not that I want it too. Some think the Bible points to China becoming a huge world power at end times and the USA becoming unstable and weak. Hope its not true but it has been predicted by some as biblical. No controversy here Only time will tell and we will probably not be around.

Have you done a valve adjustment yet? It sounds like the engine is losing compression. There's a guide on how to do it here. The fact that it won't pull a load tells me something is amiss in the flow of the motor. The exhaust system didn't get dented or clogged, did it? Have you observed that your throttle cable is opening all the way?

I would think that a partially blocked exhaust would run hot enough when pushing the engine to produce some sort of overheating smell, but it is a possibility.
Have you done the fuel system PDI? A new fuel filter and fuel lines? You might also want to check fuel flow out of the gas tank before the fuel pump to make sure there is no partial blockage. A weak fuel pump is also another possibility.

I am going to adjust the valves today. I'll let you know what I find. I noticed the muffler wasnt fully attached to the engine, so I tightened it. I haven't check much else with the fuel lines/pump yet. I'll make that my next step.
Thanks.

getting back to the loss of power question. Have you checked the rubber diaphram located in the carb? right on top gold cover with two screws, spring on the inside. if the very thin rubber diaphram has a small slit or crack in it you will loose power I guess do to some suction. I know this from replacing mine after doing everything but painting it red. Try it. order a new carb from an e-by site called superstar direct cost of about 39.00 then pull out diaphram from it and put in your bike. put carb up on shelf for future parts etc.. good luck.
