Ok, on the way home yesterday something happened. When I pulled up to my house, I had oil all over the back of the trike. dripping from the engine area. I don't know what happened, and am hoping for some ideas/help/advise. The only thing I can find possibly wrong is one single line. I'll describe it. The end has some sort of inline looking connector, but I can only find one hole it might go in, but it doesn't make sense as that is into the bottom side of the air intake and looks to be possibly before the filter. It's in the white plastic piece, not the black hose that goes into the engine. The other end of this hose is in a Y. One side goes to the front of the engine on the top driver side corner of the front of the engine. The other side of the Y goes to a black box mounted to the driver side of the frame. I have no idea what it could be for. I see no cracks or broken areas on the rest of the engine. The oil starts about half way back on the engine, and spreads further out the further back you go, which would coincide with that hose whipping around while going highway speed and being pressurized. Like a fire hose with no one holding it. I have no idea what this hose is for. I cranked the trike and didn't see anything coming out of it. Made me think maybe gear oil? I'm not even sure this trike has gear oil. Again no real scooter experience. I checked the oil and it still shows full like it always has, which sets oddly with me as loosing the amount I did should have made it at least low. Yet pulling the dip stick and rechecking it it always comes out full. I did have the trike to it's fastest ever yesterday, approaching 65mph on a downhill. Could that have done something? Maybe sent the engine RPM too fast. I really wish I had a tach to keep track of such things. Anyways, I'm naturally scared to run the trike until I've fixed the issue. I was thinking maybe a blow back or something due to excessive RPM. Still with the engine oil not showing to be low, I don't know. Anyone have any ideas? I'll be available to check them immediately today. Also if pictures are needed, they can be provided. First this is the end of the hose I suspect. You'll see what I'm talking about by the red circles and boxes. Here is the Y in the line. Here is the line coming out of the front of the engine. Here is where I suspect the line went into the air intake. Here is where the other end of the Y goes, the box I mentioned is marked by a red box.

This is your crankcase breather hose:
An oil mist will definately come out the other end and get all over your engine if it's open, especially at high RPM. The other end is usually inserted into the air intake system before the filter to pull fumes in. Riders who have removed their airbox and replaced in with a Uni filter often use an oil catch can or a filter to keep the mess down. I think that hose is your problem. Rich

Stick a gas fuel filter on the end of the hose that comes from the top of the engine (valve cover) and zip tie it to the frame. If it gets a bit of oil or milky water in it simply empty it
It is a breather hose and it MUST BE OPEN TO THE AIR...fuel filters are OK...
Or as Bashan says run it down to anything that will catch the oil mist...

Welcome to Scooter Doc, skytex. Bashan's answer, I think, is right. What probably happened on the high speed downhill run, is that the oil pooled in the valve cover area as the front of the engine was lower than the crankcase. This most likely caused excessive oil misting which was more than the system could normally handle and it was spewed out the back of the scoot. Since your oil level is still OK, it appears a little oil mist goes a long way.

Very thankful for the answers and the knowledge! My only other question is what does it Y into? that vent hose connects to a Y which one end goes into the air intake assembly, the other into a black box mounted to the frame of the scooter. Any idea what that is for?

Also check to see if the oil smells like gas. It can leak threw the carb and get into the oil but ussualy when you pull the dip stick oil spews out!
