50 cc Scrappy details say long case 10 bolts short 8 bolts mine has 9 Pulled it down to get the belt size and look at condition of variator and clutch housing. Belt marked as follows CT154D also marked 90-a 90-a 90-a Still at a loss with long or short measured from variator to clutch hub centerline to centerline is 10 inches. Long or short??? Plenty of belt dust and clutch is slightly out of true run. Alleys post on variator set up I learned the following: From reading a variator set up weight wise I got the following info. powerband should be 6 to 7 k if going up hill and goes lower than that weights are too heavy. Also same article engine will rev to 9 k which is top speed ( short for burn it up) any ideas on what this belt size, or long case or short case?

89newbie, Which scoot do you have? put up a picture of it. Are you talking about the bolts around the CVT that hold the cover to the case. Usually the short case covers have 8 bolts MINE DOES and the Long case motors CVTs have 10 bolts holding the cover to the case. Alleyoop

dont know how to post pics. Yes bolts around Variator cover, thats why I gave the distance c/l to c/l of the two shafts. Oh by the way copied your post in arch on variator weights etc. Convinced these are the wrong weights because engine does not stay in the rpm range on hills.

Get a flexible tape and measure around the outside length of the belt you have in mms. That is the big number listed when you buy a belt. Then you can go online and find what belt goes with what machines.

Today was busy busy busy, at any rate Mo (scrappyDog) asked questions did the math then drew it and looked at it all and came back to me. Its a long case and he mathed the belt size. The man is just plain good at what he does!

So what is the belt size? It might help others? Closest belt to the math is a 729-17.7-30, on order will let you all know results.

Thats a shortcase you have . A longcase would need at least a 835-20-30 or a 842-20-30 belt. My 05 roketa has the longcase with 835 belt. I know this because of the work I did in mid march ( new crankshaft, a9 cam) on mine. Bill C.
