50cc to 80cc Big Bore Kit - Peace VIP50 By flintstonestop (Read 9,258 times)

Looking for a little help on purchasing a big bore kit to upgrade my newly acquired Peace VIP50. I'd feel just a little more comfortable riding 40-55mph on the roads around me. From what I can tell, this big bore kit is what I need.

Can anyone confirm, or denounce this? If it's not, can someone point me in the right direction? If it is, any insider tips I may need to know? FYI...my scoot is almost a week old, brand new out of the shipping box.

Well to tell you the truth, you will never reach 55mph, it will be even hard to get it to little over 40mph, 150ccs do 50-55mph.

That will work yes.However that is WAY to much money.The moped hospital sells airsol kits for around $100.00 bucks.No way would i pay three hundred bucks for a new topend.

I have seen other kits for $89, $199. I don't know much about them, but this site seemed to be the most legit. The other sites/kits looked generic, so I assumed the product they were selling were that way, too.

I have read about people buying kits thinking they were getting something particular, only to be dissappointed that they were smaller/less powerful than what was advertised, so the low prices on other sites led me to believe that's why the prices were lower.

All that being said, if this price is inflated, can someone point me to something of the same quality/specs at a more reasonable price?

I really appreciate all the help. I am a total newb, so I am at the mercy of your collective knowledge!

The ebay link is one of the products I read a warning about (on the scootertronics website), where you are looking for a 50mm cylinder, but it's only 47mm (actually 70cc, but advertised as 80cc). I also noticed the expensive kit I was looking at came with a bored out racing head (as opposed to using stock), as well as racing valves installed. The expensive kit also comes with an 80cc cam shaft, which I didn't see on the others.

So it doesn't seem that they are overcharging for something I can get for $100; just that the cheaper kits don't come with everything they are packaging with it? That being said, are the extras they are throwing in not necessary?

Are the parts on Scootertronics "brand name", while the others are generic?

Just trying to get the most information I can to make an informed decision.

They are all generic Chinese stuff. The scooterpartsmania has a whole set of gaskets and rollers you don't need...

If you want quality try and source a BBK from a Taiwan manufacturer...

I looks like the original kit I was looking to purchase from Scootertronics is branded "NCY', which from the little research I have done, is in fact a Taiwanese manufacturer.

If this is indeed true, is it fair to say you would recommend these parts over the others?

I think Sprocket was advising me to purchase the type of kit I am looking at (the expensive one).

Is it crazy overall? Or just because I have a cheap scoot? I don't mind spending the dough, and am not really looking for opinions on whether I should spend that type of money. Just looking for feedback on the fit of parts, as well as the quality difference.

p.s. I posted my original link because I think when Sprocket referred to them as all "generic Chinese stuff", I think he was referring to the links Alleyoop gave me. I don't believe he looked at my original link in the first post of this thread, as that was the type of product he was advising me to look for OVER the generic Chinese stuff. If I misunderstood you Sprocket, please correct me.

This is the type of feedback I'm looking for. However, is it a generic Chinese engine, or solid-built "brand name" you are talking about for $300? So far the responses I have gotten regarding the price of the kit have not really been valid, as the kit in question seems to be of an entirely different caliber than the $50-$110 kits I have found, and others are pushing me towards. (FYI, Scootertronics HAS a 47mm, 70cc kit for $99, which is the equivalent of the kits in Alleyoops post...so the site doesn't seem to be just jacking up prices.)
